I realise these are two very different styles of name, and probably also not v popular but I like then both!
What do you think? Oh, for a dd that will probably be born in April, so that might be a bit twee 🙈

Evangeline is lovely, though i would probably use the nn Evie or Eva

Moominfan · 31/10/2019 10:16

I prefer Evangeline but would hate it being shortened whereas you've no worry of that with April

CassandrasCastle · 31/10/2019 10:18

Hm yes...it would inevitably get shortened to Evie I suppose :/ I'd like to use the full version. I think I'm influenced by the author Clover Stroud's adorable daughter... (Unfortunately Clover has been vetoed Grin I'm starting to sound a bit of a stalker)

you could always call her the full length name at home, and let the teachers know at school that she wants to be called her full name, however i think you will find other dc will shorten it (which is what happened to my dd)

Winterdaysarehere · 31/10/2019 10:33

April in April is fine. I know a June born June and an August born one!!. April is lovely!
Love Evangaline but chances of uses full name at every needed moment are small!! And using a nn is pointless having given the full name iyswim!!

CassandrasCastle · 31/10/2019 10:51

I probably prefer Evangeline...but April is very sweet. I want to be persuaded to love it, ha

MissHenty · 31/10/2019 12:34

I love april and would pick that

bridgetreilly · 31/10/2019 13:39

Evangeline doesn't have to be shortened to Evie. Could be Eva, Vangie, Angel, Angie, Lina, Gelly...

I like it MUCH better than April. Especially if her birthday is in April.

spice3 · 31/10/2019 15:37

I prefer April.

Namechangeymcnamechange11 · 31/10/2019 16:19

Evangeline 😍 I run a youth group and had an Evangeline a few years ago, it's a gorgeous name.

username1724 · 31/10/2019 17:04

Love Evangelina so Evangeline gets my vote

AfterSchoolWorry · 31/10/2019 17:05

Evangeline by a mile.

NameChangedNoImagination · 31/10/2019 17:07

I love April.

To my ears, Evangeline sounds prissy and overly flowery. Like ruffles and lace. Grin

April is short and strong but still pretty.

Chickenitalia · 31/10/2019 17:08

I went to school with an April, born in April. That was fine. However it still got shortened, to Ape. Nice.
Evangeline is lovely.

IggyAce · 31/10/2019 17:09

Evangeline yes it will probably get shorten to Eva by some probably friends, but you can use her full name. I have a classic name with an awful tacky common sounding nn but I’ve never been called that and don’t answer to it.

Peachbubble · 31/10/2019 17:41

I like April better than Evangeline, who would probably be known as Eve/Evie, along with a fair few others at school etc. I only know of one April, however.

Moongirl10 · 31/10/2019 17:44

I love April, it’s a beautiful name.

EleanorShellstrop100 · 31/10/2019 18:28

Love April! Hate Evangeline. Something about the ‘vange’ sound.

spice3 · 31/10/2019 18:30

@EleanorShellstrop100 yes, this is what I couldn't put into words of why I don't like it! Blush

RolytheRhino · 31/10/2019 18:33

To my ears, Evangeline sounds prissy and overly flowery.

I'm the opposite- it makes me think of the scullery maid in Nanny McPhee.

CassandrasCastle · 31/10/2019 20:04

I wish I had more girls names Confused
Evangeline is fab, but I don't want it shortened.
I like April but don't love it, and still think people might think I'm being a bit...literal if I use that!

Love April. We had Averil on our list. One of my favs en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Averil

Good luck OP.

MrsBertBibby · 31/10/2019 21:57

April sounds like a doll. Awful name.

Evangeline will be shortened, it's so long! I like Eve and Eva though.

DramaAlpaca · 31/10/2019 21:59

Evangeline for me.

purplepandas · 31/10/2019 21:59

Evangeline does not get shortened imo ( and I have one).
