Spiritual middle name for Rio?

coconuttymummy · 27/09/2019 15:46

Our family has a tradition of 3 names, one of which is a name with a spiritual meaning (the other middle name is something of Irish/Gaelic/Celtic origin).

We’ve chosen his first name: Rio.
We’ve chosen his Irish roots middle name: Kian

But we can’t decide on the Spiritual flavoured middle name.

We prefer trendy, rather than traditional names.

We had chosen (and still LOVE) Cruz ....

.... but a few people commented that Rio Kian Cruz wasn’t a good choice (using Rio and Cruz together).

So we’re stuck for an alternative to Cruz?

Psalm is the only other option we’ve come up with, but we’re unsure.

Rio Kian Psalm? What do you think? 🤔

Do you have any other suggestions for trendy Spiritual middle names?

If it helps, my DS (dear son) #1 is called: Brody Rocco Shae.

(Rocco is a Saint, Shae is Irish).

So far, Psalm is the only other name we can think of.... but neither of us are overly keen on how it sounds! Saaaarm... It’s not the most attractive of naming sounds! Xxx

And we would prefer 1 syllable if possible, certainly no longer than 2.

I’m stumped.

How about Bodhi?

DesMartinsPetCat · 27/09/2019 15:55

Shae is Irish

Are you thinking of Sé? Shae is a bastardisation of Shea, the surname, and I think is usually used for girls.

How are you getting Saaaarm from Psalm? Where’s the R sound coming from?
I wouldn’t use it. It’s very Kardashian.

Morado · 27/09/2019 15:56

Or Eden?

Did you decide on the girl name btw?

Morado · 27/09/2019 15:58

Zen
Zion

Yoda

pikapikachu · 27/09/2019 16:04

Psalm is Kim Kardashian's youngest son and I think a lot of people would associate the name with her.

Atlas
Micah
Levi is in the bible bit sounds modern imo
Pax

Sarm is the us pronunciation it is more salm in the uk (and horrible)
How about Amos Jobi or Malachi

coconuttymummy · 27/09/2019 16:05

We chose Reya Eden Sky for a girl. Xxx

I’ve asked for alternative suggestions for Eden, on a separate post, just to see if we can find a mother spiritual name that we love as much, but isn’t quite so popular.

Can you use Eden for a boy? It sounds more feminine to me. Xxx

Ooh, I love Jobi!

I quite like the Irish version: Malachy x

Reya Eden Skyis really nice. Yeah I'd use Eden for a middle name for a boy, but it does sound strange Eden Kian, maybe a little too close to almist rhyming. Atlas is nice too.

I'm in Scotland and Jobi is a childish slang word for a poo, so that's a no for here!!

coconuttymummy · 27/09/2019 16:14

Oh no 😭 I love the name Jobi, but it means persecuted, like Job. 😭

Well, that kne’s Out, then! 😂🤣

Haha, such a sweet sounding name means persecuted, and slang for poo. 🤣 Trust me to like it! 🤦‍♀️😜😂

Glad you chose Reya! It's part of my dd's name. We almost names her Soraya with Raya as a nn.

I have a lovely friend names Henry Eden, Eden being his middle name. I think it's lovely for a boy!

Rio Kian Psalm is pretty awful, he hasn't got a decent name to choose from.

FairfaxAikman · 27/09/2019 18:43

I love the name Jobi, but it means persecuted, like Job.

And it means something completely different in Scotland

BringMeTheVoiceOfAnthonyHead · 27/09/2019 19:17

Janeiro?

mclover · 27/09/2019 19:55

As someone who's name is a famous song (HEY Jo) .. your poor boy is gonna spend his life having the Duran Duran song sung at him!

FlaviaAlbia · 27/09/2019 20:22

Maybe

FlaviaAlbia · 27/09/2019 20:26

Maybe you don't mind, but it should be Cian if you're going for an Irish name. There's no K in the Irish language.

Soraya is really beautiful too. I think I like Reya best, though. It’s a lovely name 💖 xxx
