Too odd?!

I'm currently 34+1 with a little girl. I love the name Megan, but I prefer it pronounced in the American way. So to make it clear, I'm planning to spell it Maygan. Or is that too weird??

Well then it’s not Megan is it. If you don’t want it pronounced as such. Obviously you wouldn’t have a Maygan and a Megan in the same family but as far as I’m concerned They’re 2 different names. However people will argue against that I’m sure. I mean my sister is Aimee, but It’s only the spelling that’s different not the pronunciation
You’re doing the right thing, though by spelling it how you want it said.
But Expect people to come on saying unique spellings are a no I'm

SunshineAngel · 13/09/2019 15:17

I think it's quite a nice idea and unique without crossing the line of being-weird-to-prove-a-point.

Sunflower160 · 13/09/2019 15:18

Maygan and Megan are two completely difference names. In fact Maygan isn’t even a name. I’d say it’s too odd. People aren’t going to understand that Maygan is an American sounding Megan, they’ll just think it’s an unusual name.

ForkHandlesplease · 13/09/2019 15:19

Maybe Maigan or Maegan , the May is a bit odd to me.

sheshootssheimplores · 13/09/2019 15:19

It looks ridiculous.

Sunflower160 · 13/09/2019 15:19

Different*

ChangedMyNameYetAgain · 13/09/2019 15:19

Maegan?

ClaraThePigeon · 13/09/2019 15:19

It's ridiculous.

Maegan is much better

littlemama18 · 13/09/2019 15:21

I prefer it to Megan, but I do prefer the other spellings such as maegan!

ongranaryplease · 13/09/2019 15:30

Maegan

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 13/09/2019 15:33

Maigan’s nice

MumUndone · 13/09/2019 15:43

Don't do it.

IckleBear · 13/09/2019 15:43

Maegan

BackOnceAgainWithABurnerEmail · 13/09/2019 15:47

Hmmm I don’t really like it, I’d be worried people would think it was a mistake and she’d spend her whole life spelling it out.

If you don’t like Megan I’d go for another name entirely.

littlemeitslyn · 13/09/2019 15:55

Just no

MikeUniformMike · 13/09/2019 15:56

How about Reagan?

Bapman · 13/09/2019 15:56

Meagan

PuffHuffle5 · 13/09/2019 15:58

You mean you like the name Megan but want people to pronounce it in a fake American accent?? That is pretty silly, sorry.

MarshaBradyo · 13/09/2019 15:59

Yes too odd

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 13/09/2019 16:02

Meghan? I think people will pronounce that they way that I think you are going for with Maygan... Otherwise, I wouldn't. She faces a lifetime of misspellings, and people may well just say May-Gan, which doesn't sound right.

Rachelover60 · 13/09/2019 16:03

Megan or Meghan is really nice. Maygen is weird however you spell it!

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 13/09/2019 16:06

Sorry. I’m lost here.

Megan (to me from NI) is pronounced as if you’re saying “maygan”

I know a Megan and that’s how she’s pronounces it.

Is there another what to say Megan? Confused
