I'm currently 34+1 with a little girl. I love the name Megan, but I prefer it pronounced in the American way. So to make it clear, I'm planning to spell it Maygan. Or is that too weird??

It's a bit like Charlie can sounds like char-lee or char-luh in different accents but the name is still Charlie.

Anna can sounds like Ah-Nah or an-nuh. The name hasn't changed.

It sounds like you want a non-name and for everyone to put on a silly accent for the name

I've got friends from Yorkshire and the 'lee' sound at the end of names often sounds like "luh/leh"'

Essentially my point is that names will sound different when people speak in different accents. It doesn't change the name though.

Or take names ending in an a like Rebecca. If you're from Newcastle then the a at the end is a sounds different than say received pronunciation.

Maygan looks awful and it's really unfair to give a child a name that they will always have to spell out.
Maigan doesn't look quite as bad but it is still a weird spelling.
