Goldie was DH GM name, she’s wonderful and we love the name. He would love to use it for DD. We’ve had very positive reactions from family who knew GM.

Thoughts?

My first thought was 'goldy looking chain', then the singer (I think).

I'd forgotten it was a woman's name despite Goldie Hawn being famous for so long. It's actually lovely, feminine but strong, it seems to be the name of a happy person.

willlowthewisp · 28/08/2019 17:27

I'm a holly oaks fan so it's a big no from me Blush

HappyPunky · 28/08/2019 17:28

It's cute. If I met a little Goldie I think I would assume it was short for something like Marigold which I also like.

toastedbeagle · 28/08/2019 17:28

I know a Golda. She’s fabulous.

RuthW · 28/08/2019 18:08

Goldie is a dog's name

lioness88 · 28/08/2019 18:18

I love it, I'd use it as a nn to Marigold though.

Cbeebiesrehab · 28/08/2019 18:29

I know a Marigold with the nn Goldie. I like it. Wouldn’t use Goldie as a stand alone name though.

funkylittleboatrace · 28/08/2019 18:32

I love Goldie

Goldie?
Windydaysuponus · 28/08/2019 18:32

Are you having a Labrador op?

daisyboocantoo · 28/08/2019 18:57

I thought of Goldie Hawn.

It's a cute nickname but I don't think it's fair to saddle this person with a nickname and no other alternative for the rest of their life.

What about Marigold, shortened to Goldie?

jellymaker · 28/08/2019 18:59

It's a dog's name

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 28/08/2019 19:00

Yep, sorry - Blue Peter dog.

Pamplemousecat · 28/08/2019 19:00

Dogs’ name - sorry

NoHummus · 28/08/2019 19:01

For a dog, fine. For a human child, not so much.

TroysMammy · 28/08/2019 19:01

Blue Peter's Golden Retriever.

FamilyOfAliens · 28/08/2019 19:02

It’s odd - it works with Goldie Hawn but that’s probably because people always say her surname too.

Sorry, OP - it’s a dog’s name.

hellnonono · 28/08/2019 19:04

It's cute! And has sentimental meaning, go for it if you love it. A name that you and your partner love and the family loves... gold dust! It's meant to be.

Actually I think it's One of those names that is on the rise this year. Seen a few Goldies on Instagram.

drivingmeupthebend · 28/08/2019 19:08

I had a goldfish called Goldie.

thetardis · 28/08/2019 19:10

dog

Disfordarkchocolate · 28/08/2019 19:16

Golda is lovely, and slightly more formal, alternative and would still honour your grandmother. Goldie may appear as a nickname naturally. I think you have to be close to middle-aged to think of the blue Peter dog.

MustardScreams · 28/08/2019 19:17

What if she’s blonde though? Everyone will think you’ve named her after Goldilocks,

MrsMoastyToasty · 28/08/2019 19:20

How about a name that means gold, like Aurelia?

DramaAlpaca · 28/08/2019 19:22

It's a No from me.

Scarscar · 28/08/2019 19:23

When someone says Goldie in any context I immediately think of the Blue Peter dog.

madeyemoodysmum · 28/08/2019 19:28

Only if her full name is marigold
