Mumsnet hated names that you like?

We all know mumsnet is full of opinions
“Chavvy” “Chavtastic”
“Doesn’t look good on CV”
“Not middle class”
“Council estate name”
“What if they want to be a lawyer or doctor?”
“Not a real name”
“Trying too hard to be different”
“So bland and boring”
“Too American”
(All things I’ve seen on threads over the years!)

So I want to know, what are some names that the majority of mumsnet HATE but you like?

For me it’s Grayson and Everly. They are two of my favourite names ever.

AlliKaneErikson · 13/08/2019 15:29

My DS is Harrison (Harri for short). It never seems to go down well on MN...

DejaVoodoo · 13/08/2019 16:27

I like Bodhi and Rocco, much to MNs collective disgust, I'm sure!

Changedname81 · 13/08/2019 16:29

Oh I love Hadley for a girl ...

absofuckinglutley · 13/08/2019 16:32

There was a baby born in that emma Willis programme last night they called Hadley and at first I was like ooooo no but now it's grown on me!

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 13/08/2019 16:33

Mason

jomaIone · 13/08/2019 16:51

Evie

Cannot see a single thing wrong with that name but gets serious hate on here

Isitweekendyet · 13/08/2019 16:55

I actually adore Beauden. It got slated on a few threads.

I also love Evie, Isla and Maisie, which I’ve seen get masses of hate. Wouldn’t use them both love them all the same!

Pisses me off no end when people make fun of names that hold a religious meaning, like Chaim, too. I find it really ignorant!

Atlasta · 13/08/2019 16:57

Sonny

Atlas and Persephone - love these names and both are on my shortlist for the baby I'm currently pregnant with! I'm sure that makes me "try hard" but I don't care!

moonpiggle · 13/08/2019 17:14

Saskia. Love it.

IsobelRae23 · 13/08/2019 17:59

Carter, Avery, Eli, Gideon, Grayson, Micah, Nate, Tate

Annabelle, Aurora, Athena, Esme, Hadley, Hallie, Layla, Nova, Savannah, Willow

I dont mind it being a something-mae either

Casander · 13/08/2019 18:02

We're calling DD Savannah.

According to MN this means she is destined be a stripperGrin

Biscusting · 13/08/2019 18:03

Derek

I don’t know why but I love the idea of a baby Derek 🤣

Theonewiththeblonde · 13/08/2019 18:08

Lily. Yes yes I know it’s crazy popular but it’s beautiful

IdentifyasTired · 13/08/2019 18:10

Jayden.
It's got such a nice soft sound to it. I can't bring myself to dislike it.

marmitelover84 · 13/08/2019 18:57

I like a lot of these! @Casander I love Savannah, it’s gorgeous.
@Grasspigeons I don’t mind double barrelled names either! My sister has a Lili-Mai which I genuinely think is really pretty.
My son is Kai which is also hated on here.
Others I can think of
Mackenzie
Jaxon

I love savannah and grayson...because of grayson Perry.

I absolutely hate when ppl denoted a name as chavvy. I hate people using the term chav/chavvy it's derogatory and classist.
And going back to grayson Perry he wrote great book/ documentary about taste ie basically nobody has the right to think they have taste and another person doesn't. Taste is all about keeping in groups and being accepted.

Love the name sienna.... Which people are so judgy about.

Southfox · 13/08/2019 19:57

moonpiggle is saskia seen as a rubbish name? I think it's great!

Boom25 · 13/08/2019 20:00

I like Persephone (Sephy) and Harper. I also see nothing inherently wrong with Jaiden (prefer that spelling to Jayden) My dc know several between them and they're all lovely boys.

longestlurkerever · 13/08/2019 20:01

Lots of K names, including Kai. I agree Jayden sounds nice. Lots of "too popular names like Evie, Sophia, Olivia, Lily,

SymphonyofShadows · 13/08/2019 20:01

Janet

mathanxiety · 13/08/2019 20:05

Chantal
Evie
Beau
Margaret

Hyphenated names.

lazylinguist · 13/08/2019 20:09

I think some of the names mentioned on this thread are usually liked on MN, aren't they? Saskia, Athena etc.

I have to confess I'm normally in agreement with the MN verdicts on names tbh, especially the Jayden, Kayden-type ones and 'unique' spellings of normal names. But I do occasionally like a couple of the more esoteric and 'out there' ones.
