Mumsnet hated names that you like?

We all know mumsnet is full of opinions
“Chavvy” “Chavtastic”
“Doesn’t look good on CV”
“Not middle class”
“Council estate name”
“What if they want to be a lawyer or doctor?”
“Not a real name”
“Trying too hard to be different”
“So bland and boring”
“Too American”
(All things I’ve seen on threads over the years!)

So I want to know, what are some names that the majority of mumsnet HATE but you like?

For me it’s Grayson and Everly. They are two of my favourite names ever.

Amelia
Everley

Sophronia · 14/08/2019 23:39

I don’t mind Kai and Kayden.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/08/2019 10:43

I love the name Kevin. I don’t get the issue

Namechange8471 · 22/08/2019 10:46

My daughter is Brooke , which seems like marmite to most people.

I also love flower names such as Rose, Daisy etc...

Welshy545 · 22/08/2019 11:22

Alyssa....my dd name which I love but Mn say its chavvy!!

Cattenberg · 22/08/2019 11:47

I don’t know what associations Saskia has for other people, but I think of it as being quintessentially Dutch.

My DD’s middle name is Rose, which is seen as a “filler name” by some MNers. I considered many other names because Rose is so popular. But ultimately I went with Rose because it’s a beautiful name, I love it and it goes really well with DD’s first name and surname.

I'm having a DD in October, DH and I have agreed her name will be Ruby. We both like it and it was my great-grandmother's name, she was absolutely brilliant. I don't particularly care that some MNers think it's a stripper name, to me it's the name of my lovely nan who looked after me as a small child and always had nice biscuits Smile

CatteStreet · 22/08/2019 12:07

I've seen a lot of dislike of Saskia on here recently. I love it.
Also love Emily, which gets decried as 'dull' and 'boring'.

InsertFunnyUsername · 22/08/2019 12:23

Nevaeh, the sound is nice. Even more shocking, It doesnt bother me that it is heaven backwards. But I am bias, I know a little girl with this name and shes a beautiful little soul. I see it in the same category as Hope, faith etc. I like Tallulah, Lily and Felicity.

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 23/08/2019 10:53

I'm quite fond of the name Keith which lots of people don't seem to like.

Thankfully I've had my kids now.

CassianAndor · 23/08/2019 10:59

the baby names board really shows up the classism, racism and xenophobia on MN, whilst also highlighting a bizarre preference for old-fashioned-for-a-reason names like Joan and Olive. Give me a Savannah or Lily-Mae any day of the week over Joan.

I also like Keith.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 23/08/2019 15:27

Chardonnay

veeboo · 23/08/2019 15:58

Another for Everley and Beauden.
I bloody love them!

DonEmmanuelsDingleberries · 23/08/2019 18:11

There was a thread a while back about the name Ylva, which was pretty much universally panned, but I like it.

I also like Harper, Spencer (for a girl), Hayden, & Emily (often denounced as 'boring' and/or 'wet').

milliefiori · 23/08/2019 18:13

The cutsie versions of old men names people hate: Alfie, Archie etc - I love all of those.
Sophie is considered too common. It's my favourite girl's name.

Marv1nGay3 · 23/08/2019 18:17

Amber.
A ‘stripper’ name apparently....I think it’s lovely!

NCBabyBoy · 23/08/2019 21:27

I think I can outdo all of these...

I really like the name Colin Blush Really don't see the issue with it...

ThighThighOfthigh · 24/08/2019 10:25

I like Conor, Liam and Cameron - naughty boy names.

I can't stand old lady chic - what's next - Barbara and Pauline?
