After Anouk... Manon? Is it a nice name?

Lovely. Cool and elegant.

Julykthat · 21/07/2019 08:48

A lovely name. Very pretty. I know two Manon's, both in their 20's.

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 21/07/2019 08:48

It’s the god/devil whatever that they chant to in The Craft so anyone who was a gothy teenager in the nineties will think of that when they hear it.

Plus it doesn’t really have a nice sound. Man on. Sounds like a football term.

Orangepear · 21/07/2019 08:49

Lovely!

FenellaMaxwell · 21/07/2019 08:51

I love it.

Atlasta · 21/07/2019 08:52

Manon.
I really don't like it.

Orchidflower1 · 21/07/2019 08:52

Sorry I think it’s awful. It just doesn’t sound like a name- particularly for a girl.

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 21/07/2019 08:53

Makes me think about the rapey tragic ballet.

Rainatnight · 21/07/2019 08:53

Love it.

Always makes me think of the film Manon des Sources. I’d never have thought of using it, but it’s lovely.

Todamhottoday · 21/07/2019 08:55

I know 2 Manon's, they are both men and Indian, dont like it at all for a girl sorry.

laylabella · 21/07/2019 08:55

Really don't like it. Sounds like saying Man On which is a bit grim

Snog · 21/07/2019 08:56

Nice if you have a French connection

Viebienremplie · 21/07/2019 08:56

I think it works very well in French/France but not so much if she's British/living in the U.K.

There are lots and lots of lovely French girls names that don't also mean something in English...

BookBookBook · 21/07/2019 08:57

I love it, but have only ever come across it in deeply French contexts -- do English speakers pronounce it as 'Man on'? That would be my sole issue with it.

TitianaTitsling · 21/07/2019 08:57

yippee exactly what l thought of! "Make them see Manon three times three*

Icklepup · 21/07/2019 08:59

I love Anouk but Manon doesn't sound like a nice name for a girl..

Anouk and Maris?
Anouk and Eden?
Anouk and Veda?
Anouk and Cosette?

EdWinchester · 21/07/2019 09:02

Are you french? It’s a nice name, but if you’re in the uk, everyone will pronounce it man-on which is horrid.

StoatofDisarray · 21/07/2019 09:04

Agree with the Man on PPs: you're setting her up for a lifetime of "jokes". Shame because it's a nice name.

Proseccoinamug · 21/07/2019 09:07

In Wales there are loads of Manons.

Proseccoinamug · 21/07/2019 09:08

I assumed Welsh, not French. Don’t think any of the Manons round here have been the butt of jokes.

Oblomov19 · 21/07/2019 09:08

I thought it was a male name. It's not very feminine.

DogsandBoysmeanMud · 21/07/2019 09:08

'Man-on' is what you shout in football when another player is getting very close to your player with the ball!!!

RickOShay · 21/07/2019 09:09

How is it pronounced in French?

CeceSL · 21/07/2019 09:11

We are French. But we currently live in UK. Thank you for your reactions.

“Man on!” is what you shout in football to a team mate if there’s someone behind trying to tackle him or her
