We are struggling with names (hence a million posts!) Looking for honest uncensored views!

What do you think of Dulcie?

And for a boy - Robin?

I think they're both lovely.

Divgirl2 · 08/07/2019 14:41

Robin is lovely. I don't really like Dulcie but I can't really put my finger on why. I think it's because it sounds like a brand of syrup.

Sexnotgender · 08/07/2019 14:42

Dulcie is absolutely dreadful.

Robin is lovely.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/07/2019 14:44

I don't like the Dull sound in Dulcie.
I don't particularly like Robin, but Its a nice inoffensive name.

AverageMummy · 08/07/2019 15:06

@Sexnotgender can I ask why? Connotations? Sound? No particular reason?

OP posts:
Sexnotgender · 08/07/2019 15:11

Its just a horrible sounding name to my ear. Wet sounding.

Fatkins · 08/07/2019 16:07

Love Robin. Really don't like Dulcie.

Darcy? Similar type of make I think but without the "dull" sound, which I don't like.

For clarity, I'm not all that mad about Darcy either, but it's a lot nicer than Dulcie imo.

ParrotsForLife · 08/07/2019 16:09

I dislike Dulcie due to the ‘dull’ sound.
And Robin just sounds wet.

Fatkins · 08/07/2019 16:09

Similar type of NAME sorry. Stupid phone!

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 08/07/2019 16:10

Robin for boy or girl! (or Robyn)

MikeUniformMike · 08/07/2019 16:11

I don't like Dulcie at all. Don't like the look of it or the sound of it and it will get shortened to Dull.
Robin is great.

ChristineBaskets · 08/07/2019 16:11

I don't think Dulcie has an unpleasant sound at all. It reminds me of 'dulce de leche' and has the same root meaning sweet.

MollyHuaCha · 08/07/2019 16:13

Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori.

Fatkins · 08/07/2019 16:14

Oh Molly, you've just put me off it even more!

Drunk with fatigue they trudged through sludge.

lilpumpsmum · 08/07/2019 16:17

Love Robin but think Dulcie is awful. It's the "dull" bit at the beginning.

AverageMummy · 08/07/2019 16:22

Thank you all - very eye opening Grin

Is Dulcie pronounced dull-chee or dull-see?

Icklepup · 08/07/2019 17:02

Love Robin

Fundays12 · 08/07/2019 17:04

Dulcie is awful sorry and Robin is not great either.

Shadow1234 · 08/07/2019 17:10

I am obviously in the minority here, but I love the name Dulcie.

Not so keen on Robin for a boy (prefer it for a girl spelt Robyn)

babysharkah · 08/07/2019 17:35

Depends where you are and how you pronounce Dulcie. Dull-see or Dul-chee?

Zoobluebabypink · 08/07/2019 18:10

I think it’s horrible sorry
Dulcie is really clunky to me and sounds really faddy. Makes me think of one of those little girls in America who does Toddlers and Tiaras or something of the like.
Also nn would end up being ‘dull’
Robyn- don’t like that either

DramaAlpaca · 08/07/2019 19:10

I'm really sorry, but I think Dulcie is truly awful & Robin is rather wet.

sneakypinky · 08/07/2019 19:18

I like Robin. Dulcie is hideous though.
