MaLittleBubbas · 11/05/2019 14:14

hi everyone new & desperate mumsnetter here :)
my second baby girl was born three days ago and she is still NAMELESS!!!! this is stressing me out a bit...
we like the name Ingrid but I am not convinced, not sure why? I do really love this name though
I also really like the name Amelie, but is it too popular?
What are your thoughts on Ingrid & Amelie? suggestions that are in the same vein as Ingrid and Amelie (and Violet, which is big sister’s name) are VERY welcome!!
thank you!

Iris, Mabel or Laurel?
I like Amelie more than Ingrid.

SnowdropFox · 11/05/2019 14:20

Ingrid is lovely, Amelie is quite popular in my area so would avoid it personally. Stick with your gut.

Peachbubble · 11/05/2019 14:22

Congratulations!

Personally I'm not too keen on Ingrid, and Amelie is very popular. How about

Edie is a name in its own right.

Shadow1234 · 11/05/2019 16:01

Snot keen on Ingrid - it has a harsh sound to me. Amelie is lovely, but very popular (although that wouldn't put me off if I liked a name).

Love Ingrid, it was on our list.

I wouldn’t necessarily worry about “too popular” THAT much, top names hear days are no where near as common as they used to be

viques · 11/05/2019 16:33

Vivienne if you want the same initial.

Marguerite if you want the flower connection.

I really like Ingrid. Amelie is a bit meh in comparison.
Also like Astrid and Iris.

SpangledBoots · 11/05/2019 17:23

When I see the name Violet, all I can think of is Rosa. Maybe because they're two of my favourite names and there's the floral link.

Ahl134 · 11/05/2019 17:27

Daisy or Poppy, keep with the floral theme?

MaLittleBubbas · 11/05/2019 17:46

Not keen on keeping the flower theme as we want a lot of children, and I think it would get a bit tacky after a while (personal opinion- please don’t offended! If you chose flower names it is because you love it! sorry!) Don’t like Astrid either. Frontrunners are still Ingrid and Amelie though I think Ingrid is more strong and Amelie is more pretty if that makes sense? DH is going for Ingrid....hmm
