hi everyone new & desperate mumsnetter here :)
my second baby girl was born three days ago and she is still NAMELESS!!!! this is stressing me out a bit...
we like the name Ingrid but I am not convinced, not sure why? I do really love this name though
I also really like the name Amelie, but is it too popular?
What are your thoughts on Ingrid & Amelie? suggestions that are in the same vein as Ingrid and Amelie (and Violet, which is big sister’s name) are VERY welcome!!
thank you!

I prefer Amelie to Ingrid.

Iris is gorgeous. However it's a bit tongue twisty with Violet. In my head I'm saying Violes and Irit.
I definitely second Mabel, though.
Violet and Mabel just roll off the tongue.

Definitely Amelia, ingrid is very harsh sounding for a baby and for an adult imo.

puma84 · 11/05/2019 19:02

Adelaide is nice or edie.

puma84 · 11/05/2019 19:03

What about Ida?

WhatAGreatDay · 11/05/2019 19:15

I agree with not keeping a flower theme. It would be pretty naff.

I'm an Ingrid and I'm not very keen on it. I don't like the harsh "grid" sound and I always wanted a beautiful name, like Lydia. On the plus side, it's pretty unusual in the UK. Ingrid is, however, better than Astrid.

On the other hand, Amelie (and the variants - Emily, Emilia, Amelia) is prettier, but very popular.

Bumblebeesmum · 11/05/2019 19:15

Isadora also has a similar vibe but is softer ?

Don't like Ingrid. Do like Amelie and Astrid as an alternative to Ingrid but with similar feeling as pps have said

MarieToulouseBerlioz · 11/05/2019 20:32

Amelie is really pretty.

I dont think Ingrid is very nice though - how about Astrid? Its a scandi name that means divinely beautiful and has the same kind of sound as Ingrid (but in my personal opinion is much prettier)

Elmo303 · 11/05/2019 20:58

Violet and Inés

Elmo303 · 11/05/2019 21:00

Or maybe Violet and Agnes.
Agnes and Ingrid have a similar feel to me but Agnes feels softer and prettier

diddlediddle · 11/05/2019 21:12

Ingrid! Go for it.

It goes much better with Violet than Amelie does. Amelie is quite a twee nothingy name to me. Ingrid is a strong name, like her sister's.

It's unusual which is a good thing but still a name everyone has heard of and can spell.

Stick to your guns OP

Congratulations on your baby girl

I actually love Ingrid and would use the nickname Indie. It was on our list for dd2.

Amelie is nice enough but we have cone across quite a few and it's very similar to Amelia which is obviously very popular.

Ingrid sounds sassy / fiesty. I really do like it

Pixie2015 · 11/05/2019 21:35

Scarlett, Iris, Rose are all beautiful x

llangennith · 11/05/2019 22:41

Ingrid is ok.
Imogen is nicer

Refilona · 11/05/2019 22:44

Lydia or Margot
