hi everyone new & desperate mumsnetter here :)
my second baby girl was born three days ago and she is still NAMELESS!!!! this is stressing me out a bit...
we like the name Ingrid but I am not convinced, not sure why? I do really love this name though
I also really like the name Amelie, but is it too popular?
What are your thoughts on Ingrid & Amelie? suggestions that are in the same vein as Ingrid and Amelie (and Violet, which is big sister’s name) are VERY welcome!!
thank you!

I like Maisie ☺️

Tillygetsit · 11/05/2019 22:52

I worked with a vile Amelie so prefer Ingrid but that's just personal to me. What about Sylvie?

Kilpitlees · 11/05/2019 22:53

Scarlet
Florence
Margo
Sasha

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 11/05/2019 22:53

I know a little ingrid her parents call her inky which is gorgeous.
I love violet and Ingrid together!

MumUnderTheMoon · 11/05/2019 23:02

I love Ingrid it means "beautiful" and goes well with violet. Amelie sounds pretty but is much more commonly used and means "work".
Other names that might go well with Violet
Delilah
Francesca
Clara
Polly
Tabitha
Nanette

anothernotherone · 12/05/2019 08:50

If you go for the Scarlett suggestion you'll have a colour theme instead of a flower theme, and will have to call subsequent children Sienna, Jade, Amber, Indigo, Jett... WinkGrin

I really like Tabitha, great suggestion! Still love Amelie though (really like Indigo but Violet and Indigo is a no !) Thank you :)

I have a violet and she has 2 sisters. Not seen their names here and it may out me but I think May would be nice (not my dds name)

MercyBodle · 12/05/2019 11:24

I love Ingrid and it sounds great as Violet's sister. Such a beautiful and under-used name. Not that it needs a nn but Indy and Inky are very nice.

Amelie is nice enough but like your DH says, Ingrid is strong where Amelie is more pretty. Amelie itself is not so over-used, but grouped with similar names - Emily, Amelia, Emilia, Amalia - it does seem very popular.

Suggestion of Tabitha is lovely too. I just find Ingrid hard to beat!

MaLittleBubbas · 12/05/2019 12:30

I feel like I'm going to tear my hair out !! aagh! this baby needs a name! I've tried using Ingrid and Amelie on her and she suits BOTH!! not one more than the other!!

When bubs grows up her name won't matter so much in terms of popularity because groan-ups tend not to segregate by age. So, if you love Amelie go for it.

Personally, I love an earlier suggestion of Iris. I also love Jasmine and Ruby.

MumUnderTheMoon · 12/05/2019 16:17

Does violet have a nn or do you use her full name? Would you use a nn for new baby? Maybe looking at the nns would help.
Ingrid nn Inky, Inga, indie, iggy
Amelie nn Amy, Lee
Tabitha nn Tabbi, Tabs
I think Tabitha Ingrid would be amazing.

Carouselfish · 12/05/2019 19:59

Violet and Doria. Violet and Carmen. Violet and Dolores. Violet and Delphi. Violet and Coralie. Violet and Juno. Violet and Zadie. Violet and Zelie.

Zofloramummy · 12/05/2019 20:02

Violet and Harriet sound good together.

LynetteScavo · 12/05/2019 20:51

Let Violet chose between the two. Smile

TatianaLarina · 12/05/2019 21:42

Violet and Imogen
Violet and Beatrice
Violet and Phoebe

I think Amelie is a very meh next to Violet. Amelia works better.

Not a fan of Ingrid unless you’re Scandi and it sounds very random with Violet.

TatianaLarina · 12/05/2019 21:43

Much prefer Talitha to Tabitha.

missmouse101 · 12/05/2019 21:48

Damaris or Emerald.
