So, here it is, the fourth(!!!) Guessing Game baby names thread. Shock

All credit to @scotstar for creating the game, back in March 2018. Can't believe how far we've come!

Previous threads here:

1: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/3189874-guessing-game

2: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/3207745-Guessing-game-II

3: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/3262724-Guessing-game-III?pg=1ℴ=

The game is simple. Guess the name the poster is describing, then it's your turn! Make the clues as fiendish as you like. Grin

All are welcome to join in! @FintyTin, @Ladywillpower, @LadyGAgain and @DuggeeHugs, come join! (Plus others I've forgotten)

And since @Ladywillpower correctly guessed @FintyTin's last clue, this is @Ladywillpower**'s latest clue:

This old German name opened Pandora's box in 1929. Her royal connections meant that she waltzed off to one of the Channel Islands with the Doctor.

@Clettercletterthatsbetter has guessed Clara!

TheGirlWhoLived · 17/09/2019 23:01

And the home county is known as the “garden of England”

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 18/09/2019 05:46

Rowena?

TheGirlWhoLived · 18/09/2019 13:32

Yes! Rowena Ravenclaw is the mother of Helena Ravenclaw (The grey lady in Harry Potter)
Also Rowena was the daughter of Hengist who seduces her husband in order to get Kent for her father Grin

Over to you!

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 18/09/2019 14:44

I didn’t get the Anglo Saxon clue but being a HP need has its uses!

I’ll get my thinking cap on for the next clue...

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 18/09/2019 14:45

*nerd, not need! Must learn to proof-read!

finallychangedmyusername · 19/09/2019 18:45

Well played @Clettercletterthatsbetter and nice clues @TheGirlWhoLived. Eagerly awaiting the next, as always! Grin

@Clettercletterthatsbetter it’s you to go now! Also eagerly awaiting Grin
Thanks @finallychangedmyusername I went too easy with my previous name and then too hard I think so need to find a middle ground!

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 19/09/2019 21:28

I’m tired, so apologies if this has been done before/recently or makes no sense!

Not to be found on the periphery, this northern regal chap makes a less than favourable impression in informal situations.

LadyGAgain · 20/09/2019 07:21

Jim?

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 20/09/2019 08:24

Not Jim

TheGirlWhoLived · 21/09/2019 00:34

Eddard/Edward/Ned?

Or maybe Ross?

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 21/09/2019 07:55

Not an ‘Ed’ name or Ross.

Ross/Jim are closer geographically with the regal ‘northerner’ bit.

Ladywillpower · 21/09/2019 09:01

Duncan?

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 21/09/2019 11:13

Ladywillpower close - you’re definitely on the right track with Duncan

Ladywillpower · 21/09/2019 13:46

Malcolm?

Ladywillpower · 21/09/2019 13:52

Malcolm in the Middle.
King Malcolm of Scotland.
Malcolm Tucker from the Thick of It (not sure about that).

finallychangedmyusername · 21/09/2019 14:04

I think you're right @Ladywillpower!

OP posts:
Clettercletterthatsbetter · 21/09/2019 14:44

You’re right Ladywillpower, well done!

But the last clue wasn’t Malcolm Tucker (though I wish I’d used him), it was a bit more tenuous - Mal is often used as a nickname for Malcolm, the prefix mal meaning badly/poorly, hence thought of less than favourably in informal situations.

Over to you!

Ladywillpower · 21/09/2019 15:02

Here goes
I played the original Gallic law enforcer. Beloved by air traffic controllers I am extremely longsighted.

LadyGAgain · 21/09/2019 15:07

Roger?

Ladywillpower · 21/09/2019 15:41

Roger Allam played Inspector Javert in Les Miserables.
Roger & out favoured by ATC.
Roger Daltrey can “see for miles & miles”
Well done Lady G & over to you.

LadyGAgain · 21/09/2019 17:56

I'm almost embarrassed to admit that that final clue I thought "rabbit? I bet they are long sighted" GrinBlush

Here's another clue.

I’m very fast, have been top of my game more than once. I look good in red even when I’m crabby.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 21/09/2019 18:34

Sebastian?

LadyGAgain · 21/09/2019 18:53

Nice work @Clettercletterthatsbetter ! Well done!

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 21/09/2019 19:32

I didn’t get all the clues but thought Sebastian Coe and the crab from the Little Mermaid?
