So, here it is, the fourth(!!!) Guessing Game baby names thread. Shock

All credit to @scotstar for creating the game, back in March 2018. Can't believe how far we've come!

Previous threads here:

1: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/3189874-guessing-game

2: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/3207745-Guessing-game-II

3: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/3262724-Guessing-game-III?pg=1â„´=

The game is simple. Guess the name the poster is describing, then it's your turn! Make the clues as fiendish as you like. Grin

All are welcome to join in! @FintyTin, @Ladywillpower, @LadyGAgain and @DuggeeHugs, come join! (Plus others I've forgotten)

And since @Ladywillpower correctly guessed @FintyTin's last clue, this is @Ladywillpower**'s latest clue:

This old German name opened Pandora's box in 1929. Her royal connections meant that she waltzed off to one of the Channel Islands with the Doctor.

@Clettercletterthatsbetter has guessed Clara!

Right. Let’s try this one. Sorry if it’s too easy - it’s my first go!

While known for her inquisitive nature and reluctance to commit, this royal daughter has used her intellect to escape many a danger.

Ladywillpower · 08/08/2019 10:47

Catherine?

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 08/08/2019 13:26

Not Catherine. Another clue: it’s a name that’s been used in this thread before.

zvjezdica · 08/08/2019 13:35

Charlotte?

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 08/08/2019 14:17

Nope, not Charlotte

Ladywillpower · 08/08/2019 14:46

Margaret?

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 08/08/2019 15:07

Not Margaret.

Another clue: the royal daughter is fictional.

Ellmau · 08/08/2019 19:47

Mia?

finallychangedmyusername · 08/08/2019 22:28

Elsa?

OP posts:
Clettercletterthatsbetter · 09/08/2019 06:04

Not Mia or Elsa.

The first half of the clue refers to the name of an actress, the latter half refers to the name of characters.

Ladywillpower · 09/08/2019 09:50

Miranda?

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 09/08/2019 10:25

Not Miranda. I’m starting to think my clues must be really awful - sorry!

LadyGAgain · 09/08/2019 13:36

Julia? But I can't link it to the second part of the clue Blush

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 09/08/2019 14:38

Not Julia.

A hint: the first two parts of the clue refer to the name of an actress, the second two parts (royal daughter and intellect) refer to characters.

zvjezdica · 09/08/2019 14:40

Annabelle?

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 09/08/2019 16:34

Not Annabelle

LadyGAgain · 11/08/2019 22:20

I'm seriously scratching my head OP! Sorry for being so dense! Any further clue? X

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 12/08/2019 06:25

Don’t worry - I think it might be that I don’t understand the clue protocol!

I’ll break it down a little...

known for her inquisitive nature and reluctance to commit - this refers to one bearer of the name, an actress, but the attributes (reluctance to commit, inquisitive nature) refer to some of her more famous roles.

this royal daughter - a second owner of the name, a royal daughter but fictional.

has used her intellect to escape many a danger - this is the more obvious one. A third person with this name, a fictional character, very famous.

Ladywillpower · 12/08/2019 06:30

Hermione?

Ladywillpower · 12/08/2019 06:44

Hermione Norris - actress Spooks / Cold feet
Hermione daughter of king Menelaus in Greek mythology.
Hermione Grainger - Harry Potter books.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 12/08/2019 06:53

Yes Ladywillpower!

Now I shall bow out of the thread for fear I might ever get another one right and have to invent another clue...

Ladywillpower · 13/08/2019 06:38

Oh don't go Cletter!
New clue
I am part of a "sisterhood", an athlete & crime writer.

finallychangedmyusername · 15/08/2019 20:03

Gillian?

OP posts:
Ladywillpower · 15/08/2019 20:43

Not Gillian
The sister & athlete are real people.
The crime writer is fictional.

LadyGAgain · 16/08/2019 14:53

Jessica?
