The do you like your name thread made me think of this question.

Name you liked for your unborn your other half vetoed for no good reason. So I mean fairly common names you liked you didn't get to use.

Mine is Allanah dh was on a mega no.

Cecelia, Faye, Phyllis

John (as a middle name for DS). It’s DHs middle name, my dads middle name and FILs first name. It would’ve been perfect.

Balthazar

The first two had relatively unusual names...at the time

But we wrote a list each for ds2 dh had 6 names on his and i had about 30

Two names appeared on both lists so we went for one of those

Its a nice name but very common...dh was surprised it was so common

His middle name is zachary...after zachary quack Grin

ArtichokeAardvark · 24/04/2019 22:39

Christopher, nn Kit.

To be fair, I vetoed a few of his as well.

I wanted Kit for a boy and Ella for a girl. OH initially keen on kit and then changed his mind but was never keen on ella

misper · 24/04/2019 22:49

Arthur

Warmhandscoldheart · 24/04/2019 22:54

I wanted Megan or Meg,
DH said it was something you'd call a sheepdog.

idoliketobebesidethesea · 24/04/2019 22:56

Dualta

Aoife and Effie, both of which said sounded like speech impediments

For boys it would have been Ezra and Xavier but we never got to discuss boys!

Divgirl2 · 25/04/2019 00:29

Boudicca. Maybe it's for the best he got a veto 😂

SheldonandMama · 25/04/2019 00:34

Aurelia, Pelargonia, Freddie, Scarlett, Xanthi, Hakon,

Weenurse · 25/04/2019 00:34

Lily, Daisy
His were Maddison and Madeline

PorpentinaScamander · 25/04/2019 00:42

Elliott for me too. I love the name. (Now ex) dp said no way.
My mum also loves it but my dad vetoed it.
Maybe I'll have a Grandson one day and his parents will pick it Grin

Like a pp the name doesn't suit either of my DC anyway.

EL8888 · 25/04/2019 00:45

Molly. It’s a family name as well

Conversely he loves the name Otto and l have vetoed it

Peccary · 25/04/2019 19:55

Elizabeth, too royal apparently

missmouse101 · 25/04/2019 19:59

Toby and Fenella.

mumofthehs · 25/04/2019 21:00

I've always wanted a son called Joshua but DH has said no to it both times we've had a boy :(

FenellaMaxwell · 25/04/2019 21:06

Excellent choice @missmouse101 Grin

Bunnybigears · 25/04/2019 21:09

He vetoed my suggestion of Aaron but then I vetoed Joshua.

museumum · 25/04/2019 21:12

My dh wouldn’t countenance names that are a noun or a place.
So no to Iona and Ailsa and Skye and Lewis and Harris and Angus (we are Scottish).

IDontMindAnythingWillDo · 25/04/2019 21:16

Tabitha was the only name I liked for DC2 and DH unequivocally vetoed it. I’ve no idea why he hated that name so particularly - he couldn’t offer any decent alternatives. Luckily DC2 was a boy and we were unanimous on his name.
