Very American and Riley sounds like a surname. So a no from me!

OldAndWornOut · 25/03/2019 23:37

Not keen, honestly.

TildaTurnip · 25/03/2019 23:37

I only know male Rileys and female Annes so not sure who the name would be intended for.

If female, I think Anne is due a revival!

Expressedways · 25/03/2019 23:40

I’ve only heard Riley on a dog and it suited him. Very much dislike it for a human though. Anne is lovely middle name for a girl.

Rtmhwales · 25/03/2019 23:45

That's my first name but I'm American. It didn't go over well in the UK as a female name though, OP. It's currently the fastest growing female name in North America though.

BackforGood · 25/03/2019 23:48

I'm not keen. Sounds like a surname to me.
Maybe, if you are American ? I understand using surnames as forenames is much more of a 'thing' there ??

ChicCroissant · 25/03/2019 23:58

Riley is the main character in the film Inside Out, I think? As PP have mentioned, more popular in the USA than here I think.

zen1 · 26/03/2019 00:03

Yes, also made me think of Inside Out. I know a few Rileys but they’re all boys. I like Anne though.

DramaAlpaca · 26/03/2019 00:05

Anne is nice.

Netflixaddiction · 26/03/2019 00:56

I thought it was the name of a killer

ColeHawlins · 26/03/2019 00:57

No.

SleepingStandingUp · 26/03/2019 01:03

Another vote for Riley as a boy name.

Hayley?
Rachel?

bridgetreilly · 26/03/2019 01:46

I don't like Riley for boys or girls, tbh. Anne is pretty, though.

MissLadyM · 26/03/2019 02:03

Chavvy, sorry

Jaz369 · 26/03/2019 02:28

The name is most common for a boy (where we are from) but I absolutely love it for a girl! Was in our top 3! If u like it go for it!

DPotter · 26/03/2019 02:30

Riley Anne sounds like you have the surname and first name round the wrong way to me. Sorry - a no from me

MercyBodle · 26/03/2019 02:40

I dislike it, sorry. I don't like Riley and don't like it in combo with Anne.

PoppingGlitter · 26/03/2019 02:51

Depends what country tbh. I am in New Zealand and know a few female Rileys (of various spellings!) from babies to early 20s.

But when I was in the UK all the Rileys I knew were boys.

foxsbiscuit · 26/03/2019 03:11

Dislike. Anne is ok but doesn't go with Riley.

stepup123 · 26/03/2019 03:21

It's a no from me - like a Pp said, it sounds like you've got the first name and surname muddled up.

Pemba · 26/03/2019 03:28

Sounds like it's a name on a class register, eg:

Richards, Jane
Riley, Anne

etc.

brizzlemint · 26/03/2019 03:33

I don't like it, sorry. Still, you'll be able to say that they are living the life of Riley.

Peachbubble · 26/03/2019 06:19

Nope, don't like it.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 26/03/2019 06:35

Don’t like it sorry.

Riley = boys name. I don’t like it for boys or girls.

Anne = so plain and boring. Much prefer Anna. The a makes all the difference.

Ohyesiam · 26/03/2019 06:38

Dreadful, sorry.
Sounds the wrong way round.
