Matilda Jean gets my vote

sunflower332 · 23/03/2019 16:59

Constance Jean

SleepingStandingUp · 23/03/2019 17:00

Matilda then Madaline.

NOT Connie

RandomMess · 23/03/2019 17:06

Matilda

JimJamJarmusch · 23/03/2019 17:09

If it's going to be Constance with Connie as a nickname then Constance Jean. Connie Jean doesn't sound nice for some reason, so I wouldn't go for that if you're just using the short form. I like Matilda better than Madeline.

Bubblysqueak · 23/03/2019 17:15

Love Matilda Jean.

stellarfox · 23/03/2019 17:17

Matilda or if you're using Constance for Connie then Constance!

spaniorita · 23/03/2019 17:21

Matilda Jean is nice.

I can't hear Madeleine without thinking "find Madeleine" sorry 😐

Connie is ok, but I always felt like it sounds like it's short for something else, I understand it's a name in its own right but that's just my opinion.

ilovecheese1 · 23/03/2019 17:23

If Constance she would still end up Connie/Con same as she would be Maddie/Mads if Madeline & probably Matty/Tilly if Matilda? I do prefer the nick names for Matilda, which is swaying me that way! But it’s Dh’s Least fav... 😩

Matilda Jean

cansu · 23/03/2019 17:27

Connie or Matilda. Not Madeleine.

sunflower332 · 23/03/2019 17:29

Names don't need to be shortened. My dd has a 3 syllable name that never gets shortened, so it's or inevitable.

I prefer Constance. Beautiful name.

Matilda is overused and Madeleine sounds awful in English imo. I only like it in French.

Crockof · 23/03/2019 17:29

No not MJ - massive paedo-

Jessabean · 23/03/2019 17:32

Matilda - Matty/Tilly- Jean
Madeline - Maddie- Jean
Constance - Connie - Jean

In that order is my preference. Lots of lovely nn for Matilda & is lovely name in its own right- Tilly, Matty, Milly, Tiggy, Tilda.
Madeline is a lovely name though is a shame for many will be associated with Madeline McCann & if you have a similar surname I would personally avoid.
Don't know why but just not a fan of Connie/Constance- as is probs in the same era/set of names I otherwise like- plus sort but Connie Jean just has a bit of a hillbilly ring to it to me 🤷‍♀️

Which is your OH's favourite? Is he set against Matilda?

Awrite · 23/03/2019 17:34

Matilda for me.

Connieston · 23/03/2019 17:34

Constance. Give her the option of a more adult serious name, but it would sound beautiful with Jean.

EntirelyAnonymised · 23/03/2019 17:35

Matilda

Marcipex · 23/03/2019 17:36

Madeleine Jean

Marcipex · 23/03/2019 17:37

Or Madeline Jean, sorry, auto correct changed the spelling.

AdaColeman · 23/03/2019 17:40

Constance would be my first choice as it's so beautiful, though I'm not as keen on Connie, and I don't think Connie Jean is very pretty.
Matilda Jean would be my next choice.

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 23/03/2019 18:08

I vote for Madeline Jean. How lovely!!!

IVflytrap · 23/03/2019 18:13

Connie or Matilda.

DramaAlpaca · 23/03/2019 18:54

Constance or Matilda.

ilovecheese1 · 23/03/2019 18:58

@Jessabean Oh’s fav is Connie, which is my least fav! My fav is Matilda & we’re equal on Madeline. He likes the nick names for Matilda but not the full name.. Confused thanks everyone! Matilda seems to be proving most popular... Constance is definitely a love/hate!

Ranking the names in order of how much I like them would be Madeline, Matilda and then Connie/Constance. I don’t mind Connie but really not a fan of Constance. To me it sounds very pious and Victorian.

However teamed with the middle name Jean I think Matilda Jean sounds nicer than Madeline Jean! Matilda Jean sounds like it should be a song title Grin
