Delilah?

I love the way this name sounds, and nickname of lilah.

What’s your thoughts?

I’m not religious at all so don’t really care about biblical connotations.

I love Delilah but my husband is keen on Cara.

It's fab for a rabbit!

TatianaLarina · 16/03/2019 08:50

Delilah is lovely. Much more interesting than Cara, which I also like.

No-one gives a fuck about Tom Jones. He’s ancient, it’s a really old song.

My name is a classic French song. So what?

GoldenHour · 16/03/2019 08:54

WHY, WHY, WHHHHHHHY 😁

Othelloo · 16/03/2019 08:56

Oh I adore the idea of Carina with Cara as a nickname!

Yes I don’t care about the song at all.

The main thing that’s put me off is Cher Lloyd using it. And she was probably “ignorant” in using it because she just liked the sound...but then isn’t that what I am?

I know a baby Delilah. It’s a pretty name.

whatwouldkatyactuallydonext · 16/03/2019 09:02

I have a Delilah. She gets nothing but compliments about it. I certainly don't feel that she has been 'burdened'!

thedishonthecoffeetable · 16/03/2019 09:06

Delilah is also the Stoke City football chant, sung to the Tom Jones tune, chorus is the same but some of the verses are not what you would want your daughter hearing!

ElizabethMainwaring · 16/03/2019 09:08

The dish is right, it's a pissed up bloke song.

Cbeebiesrehab · 16/03/2019 09:10

My son is Jude and almost everyone who meets him sings the song at him🙄 once they get over how original and hilarious they are they then move on from it. I like Delilah far more than Cara and Lila.

TrixieFranklin · 16/03/2019 09:11

I love Delilah it's such a beautiful name! Cara is so 'meh' to me.

Othelloo · 16/03/2019 09:13

Perhaps that Delilah sounds sooo gorgeous makes up for any negative connotations?

Every single name has some negative association

I think so.

No idea why people care what Tom Jones does he’s nearly dead.

daisypond · 16/03/2019 09:20

Dolores? That is similar as well. You could have lola for short.

Moominfan · 16/03/2019 09:20

I really like it. Whole generation out there who won't even know tom Jones

AuditAngel · 16/03/2019 09:32

Delilah was on our middle name shortlist for DD1, when rushed out of theatre with baby DD1 after C section DH picked my middle name which was also on the shortlist. Under the circumstances I understand his choice.

parttimeateverything · 16/03/2019 10:17

It lovely, plain white ts was my first thought.

Ipanema01 · 16/03/2019 12:51

I love it - the religious connotations and song wouldn’t bother me in the slightest. And who cares if someone snobby enough seems you ignorant for using it !!
Cara is so dull in comparison.

pandabear13 · 16/03/2019 13:11

I think it's a beautiful name. Surely your daughters generation won't link it to the Tom Jones song and once your daughter is an adult most people arent still going to be associating it with Tom Jones.

ElizabethMainwaring · 16/03/2019 16:48

Aargh! The song is over fifty years old and we still know it! It is not going to suddenly disappear. It's a lovely name. Use it if you want, but some people will always remember the song. And when Jones the Voice does fimally slip the mortal coil, you will only hear the song more.

DaisyDaisydoo · 16/03/2019 17:16

I have one. We get tonnes of compliments and someone mentions Tom Jones once in a blue moon. There is not a name on the planet I love more so I couldn’t care less if it’s not to everyone’s taste- that’s how you know a name is the one!

Cbeebiesrehab · 16/03/2019 17:37

I’m in Wales right now A LOT of Delilah being played!!!❤️

HavelockVetinari · 16/03/2019 17:40

Huh? Wouldn't most people immediately think of Samson from the Bible? The name itself also means "faithless one".

I like Delilah a lot, although it does make me sing the Tom Jones song in my head.

Cara is a lovely name too, although it is the name of a potato!

I guess that shows that all names have different connotations to different people. It is best if you are able to agree on one that both parents like. Any other options?
