Scared that they'll use "my" baby name!

I moved to a new area about a year ago and one of my DDs is in Year 1 at the local school.

I'm 20 weeks pregnant and there are currently FIVE mums in the class who are also pregnant! They're all due before me, and our babies will all be in the same class for years. At least three of them are having a girl, like me.

DH and I have had our baby name picked out for a loooong time. I'm so worried one of these mums will use it! I'm not really friends with any of them except to say hello.

Aaagghh what would everyone else do if this happened?!

@BertrandRussell what?! Where did you get that figure from? That's insane Shock

I don't know user, I just do care about it... Some things don't faze me, other things do I guess!

@lalafafa lovely choice of words about a baby kicking away right now. Jesus. So what's your name?

Oh, you should read/watch the Hunger Games! Put it on your list for maternity leave.

BertrandRussell · 27/02/2019 18:30

What do you mean- insane?

BirthdayKake · 27/02/2019 18:31

@ReaganSomerset I'm a bugger for watching films; just can't concentrate! I could give it a go though, thanks :)

That's a tiny amount of babies @BertrandRussell

This actually happened to me.
The lady in question had her baby a couple of days before me and did use the name! Total coincidence!
We left our baby nameless for a week to try find something else but just went with the name anyway.
They go to different schools but are in the same out of school activities together. Not too much of an issue, just confusing for the kids sometimes.

BirthdayKake · 27/02/2019 18:38

Aww Starlight that's annoying! Glad it didn't cause problems though

“That's a tiny amount of babies @BertrandRussell“

There are a lot of names out there. Even with the most popular names there are still not going to be many of each!

TheFatberg · 27/02/2019 18:41

OP Google darkgreener and get the stats from there.

ememem84 · 27/02/2019 18:42

I love the name Effie!

CocoLoco87 · 27/02/2019 18:43

I love Effie. Go for it! What a fabulous name!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 27/02/2019 18:46

I was one of 4 kids in my class with my name- didn’t impact any of us

BertrandRussell · 27/02/2019 18:49

Sorry, I thought i’d said. Darkgreener is your friend!

GinasGirl · 27/02/2019 18:50

Effie is the name of one of my closest friends and I love it, she's the only one I know and I work in a school so come across lots of children.

BirthdayKake · 27/02/2019 18:50

ememem and Coco what nice comments, thank you! You'll make me cry
Fatberg ooh weird, I've just been on that! So apparently there were roughly the same amount of Effies born in 2017 as there was my name, and I often see my name complimented on here even though I don't love it

Cbeebiesrehab · 27/02/2019 18:51

You won’t believe this...that’s my daughters name😆😆

BirthdayKake · 27/02/2019 18:51

GinasGirl thank you, glad to hear there's a nice Effie in the world! Xx

BirthdayKake · 27/02/2019 18:53

@Cbeebiesrehab do you know what... When you started replying to this thread, I KNEW I recognised you from a thread I started months ago asking for middle name ideas for Effie. I had a look at my old thread and there you are! It's freaking me out loads! I'm sure you're loving the shitty comments on here 🙄 this is precisely why I'm not telling anybody in real life!

@undercoverhero

Are you actually being serious????? Shock

RayaJambalaya · 27/02/2019 18:54

I saved this page when the article came out. Scroll down to the 'how popular is your name' bit. Or you could just use the website previously mentioned.

Effing?

I think you'll be ok!

BirthdayKake · 27/02/2019 18:56

Thank you! Sad that it's so "unpopular". It's the only one me and DH both loved!

OP posts:
EdWinchester · 27/02/2019 18:56

Sorry, Effie. My phone thinks I am trying not to swear.

Cbeebiesrehab · 27/02/2019 18:57

Haha hi fellow Effie mother!

I couldn’t care less😂 some people take great delight in being as blunt as they can about names (wait for ‘oh it sounds like a swear word’ or ‘is she a scullery maid’) but her name suits her 100%. Besides, one of the most popular girls names out there (Amelia) is the medical term for missing limbs and no one bats an eyelid over that one. If she’s anything like my Effie she will absolutely own her name!
