Over dinner OH came up with the perfect name. It's a variation of a much loved departed relative, has a silent h which my other 2 have and I've fallen for it massively. Who said men were useless?! I'm thinking our dd will be Dinah Elizabeth. Like?

How is it pronounced? Deen-uh or Di-nuh?

NuffSaidSam · 23/02/2019 01:59

I really don't like Dinah, but if you love it, it doesn't matter does it?

BrizzleMint · 23/02/2019 02:00

It's a lovely name.

dinkydolphin · 23/02/2019 02:06

Nope.

Susannach · 23/02/2019 02:13

I love it!

mathanxiety · 23/02/2019 06:21

Gorgeous!!!

It's perfect.

EgremontRusset · 23/02/2019 06:25

Nice!

RedWineIsFabulous · 23/02/2019 06:25

Sweet.

burritofan · 23/02/2019 06:30

Oh, I LOVE Dinah!

Morai · 23/02/2019 06:31

I like it a lot. Looks nice too.

Pommes · 23/02/2019 06:32

Rhyming with Nina?
I like it too.

yikesanotherbooboo · 23/02/2019 06:38

I love your DD's name but am amazed to discover that there is more than one pronounciation of Dinah! I have only ever heard 'Die-nuh '.

mathanxiety · 23/02/2019 06:39

It's lovely no matter how it's pronounced imo.
I would say Dye-nah when spelled with an H (Dinah) but Dee-na without the H (Dina).

UrsulaPandress · 23/02/2019 06:39

I had a doll called Dinah when I was a lass. Rhymed with diner.

BlueMerchant · 23/02/2019 06:42

Pleased you have found your perfect name. That's all that matters.

BikeRunSki · 23/02/2019 06:55

Good name!

Dinah was also the name of the cat who belonged to Alice Liddle (the little girl Alice in Wonderland was written for).

LifeCasting · 23/02/2019 07:00

Great name! Classical and underused.

LifeCasting · 23/02/2019 07:01

Was bemused that PP had a doll named Dinah as I did, too! Was it in an Enid Blyton story?

Janecon · 23/02/2019 07:19

Lovely name.

123Flopsy · 23/02/2019 07:21

Personally I much prefer Dina. I really don't like the added h.

bananasandwicheseveryday · 23/02/2019 07:26

I like both names, but I don't think they 'flow'together. I would have a middle name that starts with a consonant rather than a vowel. But yes, both lovely names.

BigRedBoat · 23/02/2019 07:28

It reminds me of the main character from the demon headmaster but that's not a bad thing.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 23/02/2019 07:35

Does it sound like diner? I like it.

gigi556 · 23/02/2019 07:38

It reminds me of the song "I've been working on the railroad" but I'm American so probably no context here. I love it!

Well done! How clever to come up with something with a strong tradition but not often used. Lovely.
