Sister to Primrose - help!

TinyGirlGangMom · 19/12/2018 03:52

My daughter’s name is Primrose Lillian. We are expecting another girl (yay!) and are struggling with names. We like old fashioned names and have a few we are considering, but none of them jump out. Have any thoughts or suggestions?

Here’s the current shortlist-
Clementine
Charlotte (worried it’s too popular)
Scarlett
Violet
Augusta or August
Florence
Iris

Clementine is fab! So is Violet. My favourites! Do you like Clara?

Bluebonnieblue · 19/12/2018 04:40

FWIW I adore Scarlett but have dismissed it as told it's too popular - in top 20. I think Primrose is sweet and rare so it would be nice for your second daughter to have the same vibe Smile

Florence was what I wanted to suggest before I even read your shortlist.

Clementine and Violet are both lovely too.

Iris is lovely

Margot

Out of those I think Violet, Florence or Iris go better with Primrose. I love all of them Smile

I know people who have both flower names and people who actively avoided having a second flower name, do you have any pull either way?

I am surprised by how much I like Violet!

FestiveNut · 19/12/2018 07:15

Katniss?

Sorry, had to. On a more serious note, I'd continue the flower/plant theme.

Petunia
Daisy
Laurel (not a flower, but a plant)
Holly- as above
Myrtle- as above
Juniper

I love Clementine (tried persuading my DH on it, but he was having none of it after saying her nickname could be Minty).

Florence is very popular. Iris would go really well!

IsItCoffeeTimeYet · 19/12/2018 07:43

Came here to say Jasmine.

All your suggestions are very current, OP. If you're worried about it being too popular I'd chose something else.

LovelyBranches · 19/12/2018 07:43

Madeline
Henrietta
Elowen
Tamsin
Alexandria
Roswyn / Roslyn
Emmeline

pinkground202 · 19/12/2018 07:44

Violet would be gorgeous with Primrose!
I know a little Violet nn Vivi.

I like Clementine but don't like Clemmie, similarly Florence is lovely but I don't like the nn's.

MyCatIsAFiend · 19/12/2018 07:44

I like all your suggestions apart from Augusta, which sounds harsher than Primrose.

How about Rosamund or Daisy?
