Sister to Primrose - help!

TinyGirlGangMom · 19/12/2018 03:52

My daughter’s name is Primrose Lillian. We are expecting another girl (yay!) and are struggling with names. We like old fashioned names and have a few we are considering, but none of them jump out. Have any thoughts or suggestions?

Here’s the current shortlist-
Clementine
Charlotte (worried it’s too popular)
Scarlett
Violet
Augusta or August
Florence
Iris

I absolutely love Clementine! But I hate clem/clemmie which I feel is unavoidable when she goes to school 🤔

For 1910 - 1920 sounding names I would say perhaps -

Edith, Lark, Elsie, Pomona, Phoebe, Phyllis, Emmeline, Seraphim, Elizabeth, Lucy, Linnet, Valerian. Rosalea/lee

Thinking names from books - AS Byatt, E Nesbit and Elizabeth Goudge are all excellent with names of this style. Find a second hand bookshop and see if anything springs out.

Dalilla, Amaryllis, Aster, Fern, Ivy, Jessamine, Lilac, Juniper, Lavender, Lillian, Leilani, Petal, Verbena, Verity is a good one too. Araminta was one of my favourites, but I had a boy!

Josephine?

When is baby girl the second due?

KisstheTeapot14 · 21/12/2018 21:05

Opal, oooh that's nice. Opal and Primrose. A jewel and a flower :)

Sapphire, Silver?

KisstheTeapot14 · 21/12/2018 21:11

Iris and Viola are also good with Primrose.

Jacinda, Amethyst

A sunny yellow connection?

Saffron
Aurelia
Melissa (honey/bee)
Xanthe

Be nice for them to connect but have their own distinct name identity.

I knew sisters once upon a time called Silky and Cloud.
Always loved those, not sure if they did though! :)

Silky was also a fairy in Enid Blyton, Faraway Tree - happy associations.

Misty and Primrose.

Lilac/Lila and Primrose is good.

KisstheTeapot14 · 21/12/2018 21:25

love Delphine! Like Delphinium I think. A lovely flower.

Aster, Astrid, Mirabel, Stella

With the exception of Augusta, I would say all of your names are popular at the moment, although I really like them all.

There are quite a few names already suggested that I really love.
