Ellis. I know it is unisex but would you think more of a boy or girl if you heard this name?

I know 2, both boys

ForAMinuteThere · 08/12/2018 07:51

Boy - conjurs up a cheeky one to me.

MelanieCheeks · 08/12/2018 07:54

I know 2, both girls. One is a dancer in London, the other a fashion blogger in Scotland.

Fantastiqueangel · 08/12/2018 08:00

Name for a boy in reality, with a handful of girls being given it. If you like the sound, I'd go for Alice, definitely girl and elegant and classic, good for adults and as a child.

Alfie190 · 08/12/2018 08:16

Only heard of it as a surname.

If it had to be a first name, then seems more for a boy.

I think Alice sounds like a boy. I know one-he's a rock star, so it's definitely unisex. Prefer it for a boy though.

Madeline88 · 08/12/2018 09:31

Ellis is a boys name. I’d use Alice or Elise for a girl.

I know a girl Ellis but no boys.

chachaboom · 08/12/2018 11:12

Boy. 44th most popular boys name in Wales this year. Been around forever.
Usually spelled with one L if proper Welsh though.

Loupenny25 · 28/12/2018 10:36

I've only known a female Ellis so for me it's a girls name but as all the other comments show it seems gender neutral!

golddustwomen · 28/12/2018 10:48

My son is Ellis. I LOVE his name.

Itisnearlybedtimeyet · 28/12/2018 11:13

I've heard it on both but I don't think it really suits either - on boys I think "that sounds like a little girl's name" and on girls I think "that sounds like a little boys name" for some reason

HettyB · 28/12/2018 19:52

I think of it as primarily a boys name, which is odd as the only one I’ve ever met is female.

Sarahandduck18 · 28/12/2018 20:12

Prob boy but could be eithet

fluffygreenmonsterhoody · 28/12/2018 20:15

I only know one Ellis and she’s a girl.

clpsmum · 28/12/2018 20:18

I'm in Scotland and only heard of girls called Ellis

GoJohnnyGoGoGoGo · 28/12/2018 20:23

Both.
I've taught many boys with that name and 2 girls.

LMDC · 28/12/2018 22:56

The only Ellis I know is female
