Phillipa, Harriet, Katherine, Keziah, Georgina, Henrietta? And middle name help

I like names that can be shortened to nick names and want a name where the shorter version will be used the most day to day, will be introduced as shorter name. I know a lot of people don't like this or say just use the short version on birth certificate but I want to give options for when they're older on CV's etc.

Phillipa - Pippa
Harriet - Hattie
Katherine - Kitty - Don't like Katherine as much as other longer names but do Like Kitty
Keziah - Kizzy - New to list but really like it, old testament name
Georgina - Georgie - Warming to this one
Henrietta - Hettie - Not sure if a bit too long and fussy? What's nicer Hettie or Hattie?

Middle name will be Florence which is a family name. Also want to add in my fathers name as a middle name as he has passed away. So would be first name, Florence, my dads male name then surname. Is that weird? I just really want baby to have connection to grandad they won't meet.

I only like Harriet nn Hattie and Keziah nn Kizzy.
I also like Florence nn Florrie/Flo as a first name.
I also like Pandora nn Panda, Elizabeth/Persephone nn Effy and Saffron nn Saffy.

Not sure how much a girl would thank you for having a male name as a middle name though. Is there a feminine version or is it unisex?

starandson · 03/12/2018 13:02

My favourite name here is actually Florence! Does it have to be middle name? I like Katherine but don’t think Kitty is a nice nickname, sorry.
Harriet is nice.

Penguinsetpandas · 03/12/2018 13:06

Only like Katherine. Wouldn't give a girl a male name, has it got a female version?

ZebraKid71 · 03/12/2018 13:10

Love love love Keziah! I know one who goes by Kezzie. I think it's a fab name, and fairly unusual.

Peachbubble · 03/12/2018 13:15

I really like Harriet nn Hattie. Harriet Florence (Dad's name) Surname is fine.

thefarrierswife · 03/12/2018 13:16

Do like Florence but really don't like Flo which very likely it might be shortened to by others.

In regards to the male middle name, it is male not unisex. It would mean 2 middle so first name then Florence then my father's name. Day to day it would be shortened name then surname but really want a connection to my father. The female version doesn't feel right for some reason.

I am really warming to Keziah/Kizzy.

Not keen on Pandora/Panda seems a bit try hard to me same with Persephone and Saffron.

Like Elizabeth but can't use. Always loved Charlotte/Lottie but we have a horse who's Lottie and it might get a little confusing as family/friends all know Lottie is the horse so might get a bit confusing.

I like Katherine but Kate/Katie as a nn. I don't like Kitty.
Harriet (Hattie) is okay.
Has your dad got a feminine version of his name.

MrsMarigold · 03/12/2018 13:29

Go for Harriet, lots of options, Hattie, Harry, Hat.

thefarrierswife · 03/12/2018 13:30

I'm quite liking Keziah Florence fathers name surname for full proper name. Then every day Kizzy surname. But then keep wavering to Hattie, Hettie and Pippa.

Winifred nn Freddie.

bridgetreilly · 03/12/2018 13:48

I've been trying to imagine how I would feel if I had the name of my grandfather who died before I was born as a middle name. I honestly think I would find it (a) weird and (b) annoying to constantly have to keep explaining why I had a man's name. Sorry, OP, but I wouldn't do it.

LovelyBranches · 03/12/2018 13:54

My DFather dies before my children were born and my ds has his name as a middle name (helpfully it’s also Dh’s middle name too). I didn’t give my dd the male name.

Out of your name I really like Keziah. I also like the Cornish name Kerensa/Kerenza

foxtiger · 03/12/2018 16:32

I like all of them, bu the one you've spelt as Phillipa is traditionally spelt Philippa. I think maybe Keziah and Katherine sound best with Florence.

If the male name that can sometimes be a surname, I don't see any problem with it at all. It's not uncommon for females to have a family surname as one of their middle names and people would just assume that was how she got it. If not, maybe it would be a bit more unusual but how often does anyone have to give their second middle name anyway?

Shadow1234 · 03/12/2018 18:06

I really like Georgina (Georgie) Florence....
What about Francesca (Frankie/Fran/Ceska) Florence...

YahBasic · 03/12/2018 18:36

Keziah is probably my favourite from your list.

I also really like Matilda (Matty) Florence dad’s name

RavenWings · 03/12/2018 18:53

Keziah is very different to the rest and the nicest by far.

Rattinghat · 03/12/2018 18:57

Nobody can spell Philipa

Grinchly · 03/12/2018 20:38

Catherine Alexandra or Francesca?
Katherine is not great, sorry.

Twisique · 03/12/2018 20:41

Keziah is lovely! Do you pronounce it Kez eye a or KezEA?

Mumshappy · 03/12/2018 20:43

I love Kitty and Florence

Jenniferturkington · 03/12/2018 20:43

Love Harriet- I have one but she gets called ‘hatts’
I also love Henrietta with the nn Hen or Etta
Keziah is gorgeous

sue51 · 03/12/2018 20:44

I love Harriet and Henrietta also both work with Florence. The rest are alright.

GrammerlyH · 03/12/2018 21:40

Love Philippa, very underused. All great names, my least favourite is Keziah but that’s just personal preference.

Astronica · 04/12/2018 04:00

I love them all except Henrietta which just feels too much to me. Harriet is a much nicer option from the Henry names. We must have similar taste because I think that's a great list and would find it hard to choose just one too. So, having said that it's down to Philippa/Pippa or Harriet for me. I don't love either Hetty or Hattie so would tend to choose Philippa. I do also love Kitty/Katherine. Kizzy is also very appealing but I don't love Keziah as much as the other firsts.

I think first name, Florence, father's name then surname will be great and work really well. Interesting that a male name in the middle gets a negative reaction on a UK forum whereas on a similar US forum no-one would even bat an eyelid putting your father's name in the middle. Just do it!

Ladyflip · 04/12/2018 04:48

Philippa has one L followed by two Ps. From the Greek, lover of horses, philo hippos. Please spell it correctly if you end up using it.
