As this little one will be far down the pecking order, they will have the freedom to go a bit more off piste. Like Andrew did with Beatrice and Eugenie - royal names, but not a George, Edward or Elizabeth.

Diana has to be in there somewhere if it's a girl. Think we can safely assume Thomas out of the running for a boy...

I predict:

Girl: Grace Diana or Helena Diana
Boy: Christian or Matthew

(will probably be totally wrong and they'll name it Aquamarine Byzantium or Hercules Antarctica).

I wouldn't be surprised if it were Delilah.

If I got to pick I’d go for something like Alice, Rosamund or Madeleine for a girl, something fairly traditional but a little bit different to what the Cambridge’s have gone for. Or perhaps Frances in honour of Diana.

Boys names are harder, maybe Theodore, Matthew or Nicholas? Or they could always have another Charles!

I don’t think they’ll go for Elizabeth as a middle name as both Princess Charlotte and Lena Tindall have it already. I would hope personally that they don’t go for Diana as it feels a bit much as a first name and it’s Charlotte’s middle name but you never know!

@dolphin50 unless you mean ‘Delia’ and that’s why you’re getting so cross, Delila and Delilah are the same name, with ‘Delilah’ being the far more popular spelling!

I think probably Alice, Ava, Grace.

We are due in Sept and have started thinking about our names already ... whatever the name outcome is for the royals, it will alter our list if that name appears on there as it is bound to soar in popularity regardless of what it is!

I think Elizabeth has a very strong chance of being a middle name - all but four of the Queen Mother's fourteen female descendants have it, although obviously the Queen has it as a first name instead. It might even be a contender for first name, with one of the less obvious shortenings like Libby or Zibby or Eliza. I'd love them to go for Bunty though!

Matilda for a girl. It's meaning, mighty in battle, could appeal to MM, who often champions female empowerment. Also an early Royal name, traditional but current.

Maybe Spencer for a boy as a nod to Diana's maiden name. Although Spencer Matthews is loosely family so maybe not.

Alexander is the Clooneys' son who seem to be besties with H and M.
