Mira

The name has so many good meanings, and I love the simplicity of it. I pronounce it as Mee-rah. And yes, I am aware of all the negative and weird associations that some people happen to have with the name (ex. Hindley, the shower company..), but I think as long as the name is not too out there and enough people use it, it'll probably be ok Grin
So do you know any Miras? What do you think of the name itself? I think it's beautiful, but I want to know what other people think of when they hear it ;) Thank you so much!

I wouldn’t consider melia a full name, and I guess I’d assume it’s a cutdown of Amelia. Or someone naming their child to be ‘different’ from the very normal, pretty but sandy Amelia.

Hm crossed Melia off the list (which made me gloomy for a couple of seconds). A lot of people (including people on other sites) seem to think it's just a "part" of a real name, like Amelia. Nevertheless I still think it's a wonderful nameSmile

I knew I was exhausted and had been looking at the baby name book for too long when I came to 'Myra' and thought, that's pretty, why doesn't anyone call their baby that? Shock

GoodJanet · 04/11/2018 11:57

Melia just looks like part of Amelia to me, very unfinished.

But if it’s the Muh-LEE-a pronunciation you’re going for, then spell it Malia, like Barack Obama’s daughter.

I know both an Amira and a Meera, ignore the Myra comments, do you think people don't call their children John and Robert anymore? (Venables and Thompson), Levi is often suggested on here too (Bellfield).

I like this name and wouldn't think of Myra from it.
I knew an Amira once, which is also lovely
