I personally think of someone stubborn, intelligent and a little bit mischievous but would like to hear your thoughts?

Sorry OP, I realise that doesn’t answer the question but just giving a perspective as a Margot 🙂

Namechange8471 · 30/08/2018 22:23

Blonde hair, loves boys/men

EggbertHeartsTina · 30/08/2018 22:34

I just watched I, Tonya tonight so it makes me think of Margot Robbie. Tall blonde and striking!

Bouledeneige · 30/08/2018 22:36

Spoilt, snobby, out of touch, arrogant.

GoodHeavensNoImAChicken · 30/08/2018 22:38

I know a gorgeous girl named Margot. She’s so kind, intelligent, funny and she’s completely swayed my opinions of the name! Ironically she hates the name herself

onetimeposter · 30/08/2018 22:39

This is as bad as the Margaret thread. Please pick a better name, there are thousands of them.

premiertav · 30/08/2018 22:41

It makes me think of Margot Robbie. Stunning lady, ugly name.

Licketysplits · 30/08/2018 22:45

Awesome name. Margot Tenenbaum! Black eyeliner, smokes a lot, vintage clothes. Super fucking cool.

Lucy1103 · 30/08/2018 22:48

@onetimeposter there are thousands because everyone has different tastes

Bright, capable, a bit mischievous and dramatic.

Public schoolgirl with a good sense of humour.

Ohyesiam · 30/08/2018 22:51

A good laugh, wise , self contained and knowing.

MikeUniformMike · 30/08/2018 22:55

I'd think off a show-off loud attention-seeking child in a family friendly pub beer garden on a summer evening making far too much noise, while her prosecco-drinking parents made no attempt to shut her up despite her annoying everyone else there.
I never went back to the pub, and the girl in question wasn't a Margot (but it was a name that crops up on here).
Said girl and her brother's names will be imprinted on my name forever, as will the name of their poor badly trained Dachshund, Rufus.

Cattenberg · 30/08/2018 23:05

First thought, Margo from The Durrells (in her case, I think it was short for Margaret).

Second thought, Anne Frank's sister.

I'd imagine a Margot to be grown-up, dark-haired, artistic and maybe a bit bohemian.

dogaregreat · 30/08/2018 23:06

Old

PawneeParksDept · 30/08/2018 23:23

I think of the character Margot from the novel Paper Towns by John Green who was enigmatic and mysterious

LemonysSnicket · 30/08/2018 23:56

As Margot Robbie

LemonysSnicket · 30/08/2018 23:57

So, Harley Quinn - as an adult, sexy, intelligent and a bit mad

kettleonplease · 31/08/2018 00:20

Stubborn, rude, abrupt but driven and intelligent

Halfahunnerstillastunner · 31/08/2018 00:26

Despicable Me. She's cool in that too.

Jaguarana · 31/08/2018 00:32

Someone who has parents who like ugly, hard sounding names.

weekfour · 31/08/2018 00:37

Ooooh, it's obviously a love or hate name.

I've got one. She's huge and very smiley. She likes my curry and only has four teeth.

moredoll · 31/08/2018 02:17

I like the name, but the only Margot I've known was a bit of a bully tbh

Lucy1103 · 31/08/2018 08:21

@Jaguarana oof Grin I get that everyone has different opinions and tastes but I just don’t understand how it’s hard sounding as the t is silent but as @weekfour said I’m kind of loving the strong opinions that people have towards the name

OP posts:
MadisonAvenue · 31/08/2018 08:26

Lucy I can’t speak for Jaguarana but it’s the hard ‘g’ which makes it harsh sounding for me.

cariadlet · 31/08/2018 08:26

Rereading the thread, I think a lot of perceptions are probably due the posters' ages. I (like some others) immediately thought of the Good Life, but I'm in my early 50s and grew up watching it as a kid.

I'm guessing that those posters whose first thought was Despicable Me or Paper Towns or Margot Robbie are a lot younger. Maybe the name's due for a revival.
