Final decision on triplet names please?

Hello,

It's our final decision (maybe?) on our triplet boy names,
please help me decide which ones you like the best. Suggestions or thoughts are very appreciated. Opinions are gladly received. Our final list is;

Alexander, Edmund and Theodore
Augustus, Edmund and Theodore
Augustus, Alexander and Theodore
Stephen, Edmund and Theodore
or Stephen, Alexander/Augustus and Theodore

We keep struggling with these names indeed, so please help. I would like to know your opinions and thoughts. Which ones are nicer? I'm very open to any suggestions and ideas. You can give us your honest views please. (We don't choose Edward instead of Edmund because we have Edward in our social circle. Also Augustus, but I somehow still can't drop off this name.)

Feel free to choose or suggest.
Thank you so much!

Alexander, Edmund and Theodore. I don't like the 'gus' shortening of Augustus, and I'm not really sold on Stephen.

pixieloux · 15/08/2018 07:27

Love all the names except Stephen but that's just personal preference. I'm NAF of initial sharing so my votes goes to either Alexander or Augustus with Edmund or Theodore but again that's just personal taste. Don't know if it's an issue or if I'm over thinking it but one of the latter is my son's name and we deliberately avoided the other this time because both could be shortened to Ted.

Bananamanfan · 15/08/2018 07:32

The only thing with an 'Ed' name with Theodore is that you have 2 potential 'Ted' or 'Teddys'
How about a Thomas or Leo in place of Theodore? Also far prefer Alexander to Augustus (and think he will too).
Congratulations btw!Flowers

littlecabbage · 15/08/2018 07:33

Alexander, Edmund and Theodore. I'm not keen on Augustus (wasn't that the fat boy in Willy Wonka - Augustus Gloop?!). Stephen is okay but more a name for our generation I feel.

Alex, Ed and Theo sound nice. Triplets - wow! Congratulations!!

deptfordgirl · 15/08/2018 07:34

Love Alexander and Theodore. My next favourite is probably Augustus but not sure the two A initials works so probably Edmund.

ThatsWotSheSaid · 15/08/2018 07:35

Alex, Eddie and Theo get my vote.

Ihuntmonsters · 15/08/2018 07:36

Seems like Theodore is your favourite, then Edmund and you then can't decide between Augustus, Stephen or Alexander. All the names sound pretty good together in their long forms, have you thought about potential diminutives? I assume Theo rather than Teddy/Ted, as Edmund might become Ed which could be confusing. How do you feel about Gus, Steve or Alex?

Greenandcabbagelooking · 15/08/2018 07:36

Alexander, Edmund, Theodore.

I don’t like Augustus or Stephen at all.
They will end up being Alex, Ed and Theo, though.

Zoflorabore · 15/08/2018 07:38

Really don't like Augustus op sorry, I think it's a name that will attract a lot of negative comments, can't imagine looking at a baby with that name or a little boy starting school at 4.

Love the other names though I wouldn't choose Edmund, sounds really old fashioned and not in line with the other names.

When are the babies due? Must be so difficult choosing 3 names. Most people struggle with 1.
Very best of luck, you're so lucky to be having 3 little boys Flowers

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 15/08/2018 07:39

Lovely names but definitely Alexander Edmund Theodore. Alex Ed and Theo. Perfect! Congratulations!

Peachbubble · 15/08/2018 07:40

Alexander, Edmund and Theodore

NoSquirrels · 15/08/2018 07:43

Alexander, Edmund, Theodore.

Lovely!

SerendipityFelix · 15/08/2018 07:44

Agree you need to think in terms of diminutives. Even if you only refer to your child as Augustus he’ll be Gus as soon as he goes out into the rest of the world.

Alex (Lex/Lexi/Xand/Xander/Sasha etc), Ed, Theo(Ted/Teddy), Gus, Steve/Stevie.

Out of that lot I’d pick Xand, Ted(dy) and Gus, personally. Because I dislike Ed and Steve.

TheCag · 15/08/2018 07:46

I like Alexander, Edmund and Theodore too.

I’d avoid name combos with the initials A, S and Theodore or someone will end up singing the Alvin and the Chipmunks theme at them.

Sleephead1 · 15/08/2018 07:48

have you thought about what people might shorten too at all as you could end up with Gus for augustus are you ok with that ? also could get a Ed and Ted or would you go for Theo if shortening ? I think I would go Alexander, Theodore and Edmund out of the choices you have

tubularfells · 15/08/2018 07:49

Congratulations!

Alexander, Edmund and Theodore for me.

I love Augustus but if you're going to shorten then I like the initials to stay the same... Alex, Ed(die) and Theo.

17caterpillars1mouse · 15/08/2018 08:01

Oh I want to go offlist haha

My choice would be Stephen (as I remember it was important to your DH, Alexander and Edmund. - out of interest, why isnt that a combination on the list.

If sticking to the list and choosing my favourites i'd go for Alexander, Edmund and Theodore.

If you DH really wants Stephen though and your having 3 boys you should really use it :)

Quangot · 15/08/2018 08:01

Alexander, Edmund and Theodore

Angus
Henry
Edwin

BikeRunSki · 15/08/2018 08:07

I’d choose the Stephen combo! Stephen is definitely due a comeback. I’d be wary of potentially having Ted and Ned though. Or Ted/Ned/Ed.

Enidblyton1 · 15/08/2018 08:08

I’d do Stephen, Alexander and Edmund.
It may just be because you’ve put Theodore last, but I can’t stop thinking of the chipmunks.

81Byerley · 15/08/2018 08:13

I like Augustus Edmund and Theodore

BigSandyBalls2015 · 15/08/2018 08:14

If Augustus ended up a little on the plump side as an older child/teen it could be rather awkward for him.

Jollyholliday · 15/08/2018 08:15

Stephen, Alexander anc Theodore

TyrionLannistersShadow · 15/08/2018 08:18

Alexander, Edmund and Theodore, would be my choice too, they're lovely. I'm not a fan of either Stephen or Augustus, Augustus immediately makes me think of Augustus Gloop from Charlie and The chocolate factory and Stephen is a bit 70s for me.

pipilangstrumpf · 15/08/2018 08:23

Augustus, Edmund and Stephen

All great classic easy to say/spell underused names!

There are thousands of little Theos and Alexes already
