Do all Rebecca's become Bex/Becs as adults?

DH suggested it for DC4, but the idea of Bex seriously puts me off! Yet it's a beautiful name!

I know a Becky, Becca & Rebecca. All in their early 30’s now and have always been known as the above.

Condragulations · 10/08/2018 09:05

My friend was Bex in the teen years but she gave that up and has been Becky all her adult life (and childhood)

My neighbor is Becca and always has been but my cousin has remained Rebekah to most except her team mates, close friends and siblings who call her Reb.

yikesanotherbooboo · 10/08/2018 09:05

Rebecca or Becky, I don't know anyone called Bex.

Icklepup · 10/08/2018 09:05

I know a Rebe

Dfg15 · 10/08/2018 09:08

I have a Rebecca, she usually called Becca, sometimes Becs definitely never Becky

AnyaMoondial · 10/08/2018 09:08

I know one Rebecca who is always known as her full name and one who is known as both Rebecca and becs but never becca or becky.

SwearyMaclairy · 10/08/2018 09:09

I’m a Rebecca. I cannot stand being called Becky, it’s twee and childlike IMO. Doesn’t suit me at all! To most I am Rebecca, from some friends I accept Becs, Becca or Bex. But mainly I am and always have been Rebecca. I like my name 👍🏻

chuckiecheese · 10/08/2018 09:12

I would imagine that people will shorten or change the name from Rebecca. Sad

Camsie30 · 10/08/2018 09:12

I know a Rebecca who everyone calls Pixie!

IggyAce · 10/08/2018 09:21

@glowbug59 I used to get Rachel a lot too.

BrutusMcDogface · 10/08/2018 09:24

I know two Rebeccas who don't use shortenings at all. One is an adult and the other is 3.

BrutusMcDogface · 10/08/2018 09:25

Oh I also know a 7 year old Rebekah who isn't shortened! It is possible!

MadameJosephine · 10/08/2018 09:26

Not all of them. I know a Becky and a Becca but I also know a Rebecca who is always Rebecca and never shortened

ApolloandDaphne · 10/08/2018 09:26

I have a Rebecca (age 20). She gets called Becca. She will tolerate Bex. She will call you out if you dare to call her Becky as she hates it!

FrangipaniBlue · 10/08/2018 09:27

I know a Rebecca, but I also know a Becca and 2 Beckys.

I had the same issue with DS, I loved the name Thomas but really didn't want him to end up becoming a Tom....... I know things might change as he gets to secondary school but we're almost 11yrs in and so far so good!!

(Possibly because I spent the first 3yrs correcting anyone who tried to call him Tom Confused)

MrsRonBurgundy · 10/08/2018 09:28

I know a Becca, a Bex and a B. Nobody that goes by Becky or Rebecca though

MistyMistiness · 10/08/2018 09:29

I know one Rebecca. She refuses to answer to any other name.

All other Rebecca's I know are Becky, Becca or Bex. It's a shame it gets shortened because it's such a lovely name.

HJL2506 · 10/08/2018 09:32

My best friend is Bex! She could also get called Becca.

On the other hand though I have a 21 year old cousin called Rebecca who is only known as Rebecca, even to all her friends!

Katurah · 10/08/2018 09:37

One of my best friends is Rebecca- except to my 2 year old who is permitted to calling her Beaky😂

wonkylegs · 10/08/2018 09:40

My SIL is Boo buts she's very posh

I have a friend that is a Becky and another that is a Bex

kaytee87 · 10/08/2018 09:46

I'd say becca or Becky would be more likely tbh.

CocoLoco87 · 10/08/2018 10:06

I knew a Bex and didn't realise for years that her name was Rebekah Blush
I also know a Becky and a Becca. I love Rebecca but I also like shortened versions of names

MarklahMarklah · 10/08/2018 10:09

I know several Rebecca's. Of those there is a Becca, a Becky, a Beck, a Rebs, a Becca and a Bex.

birdy1978 · 10/08/2018 10:15

I am a Rebecca and like to be called Becca. I was one of two Rebecca’s in my class and the other one got called Becky. I was always called Rebecca by the teacher and was very jealous of Becky’s nickname. Now I’m an adult I’m so glad I was never called Becky and I hate that name now. My dad calls be Bex which I also dislike. Often get called Rachel too (my sister’s name - unimaginative parents!).

YeTalkShiteHen · 10/08/2018 10:18

I’m a Rebecca, never a Becky mostly Becca but my friends from the south of England do tend to call me Bex.
