Have heard a lot about it sounding like violent and is just generally harsh sounding? But I quite like it. Your thoughts?

I love Violet, it's one of my top two names! You could miss-hear a lot of names. It's very pretty.

It's a lovely name. "Violent" didn't occur to me until I saw it MN. I like Violetta too.

I don't think of violent, but I don't like the name. I think of Violet Beauregarde in Willy Wonka. Nickname Vi. I don't get its current popularity.

I love Violet. It's one of my favourites. I don't think 'violent' at all. I think of the flower or lovely shade of purple x

My grandmother was Violet, and was a very gentle soul. It never made me think of 'violent'.

It's a sweet name. I think of the flower and I've never heard violent when hearing violet.

I don't think of violent but it sound like toilet. I do like the name Violet but it wouldn't be in my list.

Love it, and it was on our short list. But school nicknames - violent.

Otherwise it's lovely. No unpleasant associations, other than Violet Beauregard.

You can add a letter to many words/names and make another... I've never understood the violent thing personally and I say the name an awful lot as it's my youngest's.

It does seem to be getting quite popular though - if you're in the UK... I've seen it mentioned a lot on here lately.

My little girls name! I adore it, its pretty and feminine and suits just about any age. It literally means purple flower, what could be sweeter than that? 💜🏵
I've had nothing but positive reactions when I've told people her name.
