Juniper, Dusty or Vivienne?

Hello all,

DH and I have completely opposite ideas when it comes to baby names. After not being able to pick a single name we agree on, he picked DD1 and it’s on me for imminent DD2. It’s down to three - Juniper, Dusty or Vivienne. I like them all a lot but there’s no single name that has blown me away and I’m sick of dithering.

Thoughts please?

Vivienne

Dusty- no!
Vivienne is beautiful.
I quite like Juniper too. But a huge no to Dusty. It literally makes me think of a room that needs cleaning.
Juno?

PurpleDaisies · 25/07/2018 14:20

Vivienne is the only passable one.

BertrandRussell · 25/07/2018 14:25

Please not Dusty. Everyone will think it’s oh so funny to flick imaginary dust off her and think they are the first person ever to think of it.

TroubledLichen · 25/07/2018 14:27

Vivienne is beautiful! Juniper I don’t personally like but it’s just about passable, Dusty is awful (sorry).

Grin Vivienne

Love juniper, very unusual. Hope you like gin Gin

daisypond · 25/07/2018 14:31

Not Dusty. I like Vivienne, and I rather like Juniper too, though they're very different styles. Vivienne is the safer choice.

zen1 · 25/07/2018 14:34

Don’t like Dusty, but have always quite liked Juniper.

Soubriquet · 25/07/2018 14:35

I hate Vivienne

Not a nice name to my ears

I actually knew a little girl called Dusty. Her dad was a big Dusty Springfield fan.

She was only 6/7 when I knew her so I'm not sure how she fared teenaged years but the name really suited her.

I like Juniper too. Sounds very sweet

Cosmoa · 25/07/2018 14:35

I love Juniper! Juni would be a cute nn. I also love Juno which is similar!

My vote is for Vivienne!

Lipsticktraces · 25/07/2018 14:40

VivienneSmile

Hogtini · 25/07/2018 14:40

Vivienne

BigFatBloomers · 25/07/2018 14:44

I agree not Dusty. It’s not a name.
I like Juniper.
I prefer Viviane to Vivienne. It seems more dynamic.

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 25/07/2018 14:46

Another for Vivienne.

Pemba · 25/07/2018 14:50

Not Dusty! - It's suitable for a nickname only. Even though I am a big Dusty Springfield fan (her real name was Mary).

Juniper, are people using that as a given name now? I can only think of the berries. It's OK, I suppose. Maybe June for short.

Vivienne is nice, or Vivien.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 25/07/2018 14:51

Vivienne.

LucyFox · 25/07/2018 14:53

Vivienne, then Juniper
Dusty is a nickname not a real name!

Glumglowworm · 25/07/2018 14:57

Do not call your child Dusty! That’s ridiculous.

Juniper is nice and unusual without being crazy.

DuggeeHugs · 25/07/2018 15:10

Love Vivienne, the only Juniper I know is a cat so I think that may be colouring my view and Dusty sounds 'old' for want of a better description.

fleshmarketclose · 25/07/2018 15:18

Vivienne is lovely. Dusty is awful and Juniper should only be used in gin. Dd's SIL has called her baby Dustin nn Dusty without exception every primary aged child they meet call him Dustbin.

NordicNobody · 25/07/2018 15:29

I actually really like both Juniper and Dusty! I dont like Vivianne at all, sorry. And even worse, Viv 😖

Juniper could be nn June which is a pretty standard name if she prefers that.
Dusty you just have to be confident with as there isn't much nn potential, but the more I say it, the more it's my favourite of the 2.

MothershipG · 25/07/2018 15:29

I've met 2 Dustys.

1 is teenaged DD's mate, her parents are Dusty Springfield fans, she likes her name and has never been particularly teased about it.

2 I met at work, she was a toddler and I was chatting to her Mum, apparently they were driving in the outback in Aus trying to think up names and started naming things they could see...hence Dusty (road, they didn't use the road part) 😂😂😂
