And what are your thoughts?

Both quite popular so I wouldn't ever use either. But I think Freya is nicer than Ava.

Lemonsherberts · 15/06/2018 20:39

Freya is lovely

Atetoomanyjaffacakes · 15/06/2018 20:39

I prefer Ava but that is because I have one. She is 11 and there are no other Ava's in her year. The only other Ava's we have met are under 5. Both are very pretty names!

DramaAlpaca · 15/06/2018 20:40

I prefer Ava but I think it's more popular than Freya.

RiaOverTheRainbow · 15/06/2018 20:40

Freya - lovely name, pretty popular about a decade ago so it may become dated.

Ava - also nice, but my local primary school has about a thousand. More if you count the Evas they get confused with.

BrazzleDazzleDay · 15/06/2018 20:40

Freya. I've loved that name since I was a kid. I named my first Ava instead... Sad

Justmuddlingalong · 15/06/2018 20:41

♥️ Freya. One of mine would have been called that, had I not had 3 boys.

MummytoCSJH · 15/06/2018 20:42

Freya. Lovely x

rockabyedaydrop · 15/06/2018 20:44

@BrazzleDazzleDay
Oh no! Why did you do that if you prefer Freya? I love both.

My DH says Freya is common, not in the popular sense of the wordHmm Does anyone else?

Freya - I have a feisty, amazing and crazy daughter with the same name. Go for it!

PJsAndProsecco · 15/06/2018 20:47

I have a Freya and love her name :) I have yet to meet another Freya since having her actually! She's 3 now. I'm sure once she starts school there will be a couple of others at least. To be honest popularity doesn't really bother me so I'd say if you love a name, use it! A name becomes the person, it's totally different once they've arrived :)

BrazzleDazzleDay · 15/06/2018 20:53

I really dont know, the pregnant obsessive name is picked and thats it I guess. I have 3 dd's too Blush It was my childhood best friends middle name and I always just loved it.

I only know one freya and she's a mighty bloody awesome wee twin who fought real hard to be here. Three or four Avas in my ones class 8/9 year olds.

namechangedtoday15 · 15/06/2018 20:55

Ava was my first choice name for DD1 (now 13) but H didn't like it - in fact she wasn't named for 24hrs as I thought I could persuade him Smile. I think it was quite unusual then although seem to remember Mylene Klass and then Keanu Reeves naming their daughters Ava just after. I think it's really (too) popular now.

Freya went through a popular phase maybe 7 or 8 yrs ago but not to the same extent as Ava.

YoucancallmeVal · 15/06/2018 20:55

I very much dislike Freya, so if I had to pick one I would go for ava.

caoraich · 15/06/2018 20:58

Both lovely.
I have a cat called Freya (don't let this put you off, we are fans of pets with human names...)
One of the cool facts that made us pick it is that the Norse goddess Freya/Freyja rode a chariot pulled by cats!
Anyway I quite like the idea of giving kids names that have interesting facts associated with them Smile

Sophronia · 15/06/2018 21:00

Freya is less popular.

MollyHuaCha · 15/06/2018 21:07

Freya.

To me Ava should be written 'Eva'.

butlerswharf · 15/06/2018 21:09

Definitely Ava. I think it's more popular because it's a nicer name.

Peachbubble · 16/06/2018 04:23

Ava, 100%. Beautiful name, I only know 2. Freya is very popular here, so I'm less keen on it.

gracielacey · 16/06/2018 08:14

I don't think Freya is "common" - there are at least 3 at the private school my dds go to, with siblings called things like Elaina, Jessica and Lucy.

gracielacey · 16/06/2018 08:14

There's only one Ava that I know of there.

Sessy19 · 16/06/2018 08:37

Not a fan of either name, because they’re very common names.

Ava is very popular on our council estate. Freya is a name is associate with ‘trying to be posh’....

17caterpillars1mouse · 16/06/2018 08:40

Freya is lovely if only it wasn't so popular

Ava is nice too

I know more Freya's than Ava's

ProudmummytoMA · 16/06/2018 08:44

Freya, not sure why but i just prefer the sound of it!

Chalkitup · 16/06/2018 08:46

Def Ava, very pretty femine name
