I like Percy but I don't like Percival or Perseus. What do you think?

You've met a baby named 'JESUS' Shock or do you mean 'Jesus' as in pronounced Hesu?

AsAProfessionalFekko · 02/06/2018 15:21

What about Leviathan? Levi or Lee for short. Nautical theme.

SomeKnobend · 02/06/2018 15:25

I quite like the name Jessy, so I'm going to call my kid Jesus Christ.

AlliKaneErikson · 02/06/2018 15:33

So definitely not a joke, then?

Happyandshiney · 02/06/2018 15:44

I just asked my ten years olds (who are both huge fans of Rick Riordan) what they think and after they finished laughing they said that it would be incredibly cruel.

There’s nothing wrong with unusual names but you need to consider how easily the child will be able to live with it.

PlumsInTheIcebox · 02/06/2018 15:53

OP, it's the hormones. Honestly.

ChocEggNoThanks · 02/06/2018 16:47

Please, please for the love of the gods do not inflict this name on your child!

Glumglowworm · 02/06/2018 17:42

It’s awful!

I would assume the poor child had pretentious parents who hadn’t given much thought to the fact that their child actually has to cope with the name

Twopointsforhonesty · 02/06/2018 17:55

Didn’t his biological father try to eat him?

HoratioNightboy · 02/06/2018 18:04

Poseidon also wasn't a very nice god - vengeful, spiteful, angry, aggressive, etc.

Weren't they all? Zeus was a right bastard, however he had an awesome name, so I'd recommend that if you want to go for Greek mythology then it has to be Zeus. Zee for short, if you must, but it's too good on its own.

Sophronia · 02/06/2018 18:05
Grin

Percy is fine on it’s own!

Cantusethatname · 02/06/2018 18:36

Someone will find a way to call him Penis.

He will hate you forever for that name. And he will probably be crap at swimming.

ScreamingValenta · 02/06/2018 18:38

People in 70s evening wear climbing desperately up a giant Christmas tree in a capsized ship - is the image that leaps to mind.

daisypond · 02/06/2018 18:43

Horatio - true! But Zeus - all that turning into bulls or showers of golden rain to have his way with all those maidens...

LastNightsMakeUp · 02/06/2018 18:47

It's not to my taste... to each their own..,

I can't believe no one has mentioned 'Poseidon's kiss' I likely have the humour of an adolescent boy but it's all I can think of 😊

LoveInTokyo · 02/06/2018 18:51

I think it’s really silly. It would be a bit of a millstone round his neck.

Fatball · 02/06/2018 18:52

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Good one!!

Seriously though. No.

nooka · 02/06/2018 20:39

I think Poseiden is ridiculous and Percy is awful. Even for pets let alone children.

TatianaLarina · 02/06/2018 21:09

Much prefer Perseus.

Picknickers · 02/06/2018 23:31

You're putting it in the pot?! I think you need a rethink. It's bloody awful!

Jj2431 · 02/06/2018 23:36

I don't know if this thread is a joke to shock but if you're serious please don't. Just don't.

wowfudge · 03/06/2018 10:06

Percy is just awful but Poseidon would be far, far worse. Imagine the stick they'll get and also how people will pronounce it in your local accent. Just. Don't. Do. It.

Neptunesgiraffe · 03/06/2018 10:12

It'll definitely be shortened to Don. Smile

Cantusethatname · 03/06/2018 10:55

It'll definitely be shortened to Don

If he's lucky. Don't bank on it though.

Pussy or Penis would be my bets.

kaytee87 · 03/06/2018 15:38

Are you giving birth to a Greek god?
