I like Percy but I don't like Percival or Perseus. What do you think?

Oh god no

Well, yes, Poseidon is a god Grin

DramaAlpaca · 02/06/2018 11:02

Please don't inflict either of those names on a child.

BoreOfWhabylon · 02/06/2018 11:03

Absolutely. Go for it. NN Po.

Wll go especially well if you have other children named Tinky Winky, Dipsy and Laa-Laa.

senioritabonita · 02/06/2018 11:03

Like the adventure? He was the god of sea wind and horses wasn't he?

It's properly nuts - and I was a primary school teacher in a very hippy town for years so have heard it all over the years.

Branleuse · 02/06/2018 11:06

we don't have enough brave weird named people out there. I'm always so delighted when I meet one
Can easily be shortened to a more conventional name later if they want

BlossomCat · 02/06/2018 11:07

My initial thought is of an angry god struggling to tame a boiling sea.
Not an image I'd associate with a sweet child.
Percy is an acceptable name on its own, there is no need to find a longer name to shorten.

🤣

Highhorse1981 · 02/06/2018 11:09

Good grief, no no and no

Highhorse1981 · 02/06/2018 11:09

we don't have enough brave weird named people out there.

With good reason.

tryharderrepeat · 02/06/2018 11:10

I think I wish you lived in France or wherever it is they veto names for your own sake

Elphabaisnotwicked · 02/06/2018 11:10

How is it said please?

Jonbb · 02/06/2018 11:10

Awful . . .

Ohyesiam · 02/06/2018 11:11

I think the name would be a burden to a child.

AgentCooper · 02/06/2018 11:11

Sounds a bit fishy to me...

Hushnownobodycares · 02/06/2018 11:11

Balonz is better.

Poseidon gives me a sinking feeling.

ThisCannotBe · 02/06/2018 11:14

Fucking brilliant. Absolutely go for it.

steppemum · 02/06/2018 11:16

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 02/06/2018 11:21

[grin

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 02/06/2018 11:21

Grin fail

GummyGoddess · 02/06/2018 11:29

Perry? Please not Poseidon, it's not going to help at school.

bringbackfonzi · 02/06/2018 11:39

Sorry, a shipwreck of a name. Not surprised no-one else is on board. There would have to be a sea-change in naming culture for this to be acceptable.

halfmoonbay · 02/06/2018 11:41

I think it sounds a bit wet.

DevilsDoorbell · 02/06/2018 11:43

Makes me think of a disaster film

Narya · 02/06/2018 11:49

It was our joke boys name that we used to shut people up when I was pregnant and people kept constantly asking if we'd picked names yet.

4GreenApples · 02/06/2018 11:55

Great name for a sea god.

No way is Percy an obvious nickname from Poseidon though. They sound completely different. Pos, Posie, Pozzy are the shortenings for Poseidon that spring to mind.
