Ok, there are three namesakes described in the clue. Two are actors and the other is fictitious, not human and only known by his first name (no surname). I've also included the meaning of the name and some letters as part of the name.

Warm clothing is the VEST in the middle of SylVESTer.
Time traveller is Sylvester McCoy AKA the 7th Dr.
