DD2 was born yesterday but has no name yet.

So far we’re considering the following
Isobel
Michaela
Serena

Middle name will be Ruth. I also like Agatha but our surname sounds a bit like Christie so we ruled that out.

DH likes Michaela best but I prefer Isobel. Am I just asking for a lifetime of spelling variations? Is Michaela unspeakably naff? Help!!!!

I’ve just looked up Marsaili as that’s one I’ve not heard before.

Would you pronounce it Mar sa lie or Mar sail ie?

I love Marsaili! I’ve understood that it’s pronounced MAR-sa-lie... I may be wrong though as I know none

seb1 · 07/05/2018 13:00

Elspeth & Eilidh go well together

blairsey · 07/05/2018 15:00

Love the name Serena. It is so pretty and elegant, but not too frilly. Also like Arabella. Not a fan of Isobel or Michaela though to be honest.

Movablefeast · 07/05/2018 15:03

Serena is lovely and not overused like Isobel. Michaela can be shortened to Kayla which puts me off and Mickie as a nn doesn't seem to go eith Elspeth.

IVflytrap · 07/05/2018 15:24

I believe Marsaili is usually Mar-sa-lee but admittedly I don't actually know anyone in real life with the name! It is lovely, though. Apparently it's either the Gaelic version of Margery or Marcella.

So DH and I have been trying all day to figure this out and after finally getting baby and DD1 to sleep at the same time we’ve decided against a lot but still not found ‘the one’

So I’ve gone back to the drawing board and come up with... Margot Ruth which I love. Thoughts on Margo vs Margot please??

Love the Margot spelling. Not so keen on Margo - it looks slightly “incomplete”

AnyaMoondial · 07/05/2018 21:27

Margot is beautiful. Margo looks a bit wrong to me.

Sharonthetotallyinsane · 07/05/2018 21:34

Margot is lovely.

Scottishgirl85 · 07/05/2018 21:43

My sister is margot, please spell it with the t if you use it! She didn't like her name at school but loves it now as an adult.

ILoveBulldogs · 07/05/2018 21:54

Margot 😊

Beautiful and and goes perfectly with Elspeth x

flybabyfly · 07/05/2018 21:54

Margot Ruth is lovely OP.

ABitOTT · 07/05/2018 22:39

Ruth for the mn is beautiful but one of those names I absolutely dislike is Margot. That said, it really doesn't matter what I think as it's you that needs to love the name & you'll always find some people who do not agree with your choice.

Congrats on your second child & I'm sure you'll pick a fabulous name. (Though I may not like it!😂

WhiteHairReally · 07/05/2018 22:49

Romola

Love Margot. Also Marcie, and Marnie.

CheeseCrumpet · 07/05/2018 23:33

Sorry I've name changed for this but please don't call her Michaela. It's my name, it's shit. I used it professionally because the nicknames were even worse.. but as a Michaela... no. Not even a little bit. I hate my name.

Mycatiskillingme · 07/05/2018 23:44

I like Elspeth with Abigail, Beatrix, Felicity,Gabrielle and Octavia

LeonoraFlorence · 10/05/2018 11:51

Blythe?

LeonoraFlorence · 10/05/2018 11:52

I like Marnie too.

17caterpillars1mouse · 10/05/2018 12:07

I love Isobel it's DD's middle name.

Just out of interest OP what reaction have you received to Elspeth. It's my top contender of DC2 is a girl. What nickname to you use of any?

starkid · 10/05/2018 13:29

After seeing your update, Margot Ruth is gorgeous :)
