River?

Ok ok we are still going through a stage of being certain on a name and then changing our minds. I know some people might not like this name but it's so pretty. We never even thought of it but it shot to the top of our list.

Before that we had Clara, Hailey (we are spelling it this way), Cora and Hallie/Halley (Halley as in Halley's comet). Cora has become kind of dull to me now.

Anyway, what do you think of the name River? :)

Brings to mind River Phoenix.

SneakyGremlins · 04/05/2018 18:16

I think of River Song from Doctor Who.

Love it Grin

ILikeMyChickenFried · 04/05/2018 18:17

Before unread your post I assumed boy and it was a no from me.

Now it's a definite no.

Clara, Cora or Hailey are lovely.

daisypond · 04/05/2018 18:18

I'd assume a boy. I really like Cora out of your other names.

Whatalovelymug · 04/05/2018 18:25

No

SandysMam · 04/05/2018 18:25

I think it is the modern day Darren or Kevin! Sorry to say so!

RavenWings · 04/05/2018 18:26

I don't mind it on a boy, dislike it on a girl.

PotteringAlong · 04/05/2018 18:27

A girl? No. In fact, not for a boy either, but I’d assume boy from River Phoenix.

nervousFTM · 04/05/2018 18:27

The word River means a LOT to me and hubby (he proposed to a song called rivers and roads, and sang it at our wedding) and I've been toying with it as a name for our firstborn (I'm currently 🤰🏻) but actually prefer it for a girl over boy, although could use for either. I like it! x

JustSeeingHowManyCharactersWeC · 04/05/2018 18:28

To me it's a horse's name!

I love Clara!

Korg · 04/05/2018 18:28

😊 love it

AlyTab · 04/05/2018 18:49

Didn't know it was a boys name too to be honest. This would be for a girl :) We have our boys name sorted :)

MyDcAreMarvel · 04/05/2018 18:53

No, it’s a boys name. Cora isn’t dull, it’s a nice, actual girls name.

AlyTab · 04/05/2018 18:58

I didn't mean the name was dull, it's just that Cora was our first name choice and we've said it about a hundred times and we've gotten really used to hearing it.

MyDcAreMarvel · 04/05/2018 19:09

Honestly Cora is beautiful , if you call your daughter River you will say her name about a hundred times in the first week of her life.

DiegoMadonna · 04/05/2018 19:10

It's a boy's name in my mind.

thisparachuteisanapsack · 04/05/2018 19:13

I like it. :)

AlyTab · 04/05/2018 19:18

@MyDcAreMarvel haha, of course we will I know :)

I see it as more of a boys name. It’s more popular for boys than girls going by the official statistics.

dingdongdigeridoo · 04/05/2018 20:55

I’d assume you were big dr who fans if you had a girl called River! It’s certainly a bit out there. Could you cope with people giggling when you called your child’s name?

HappyLollipop · 04/05/2018 20:57

I associate River as a boys name so would be surprised to meet a girl one. Cora is lovely though.

Mollie85 · 04/05/2018 21:02

As a late 30s woman, I wouldn’t like to be called River at this stage in my life...

In my opinion, Cora is the nicest on your list, but our naming styles are completely different as I don’t care for the others really...

Good luck Grin

Cosmoa · 04/05/2018 21:12

I love it! I know a little girl and a little boy names river and it suits them both beautifully Smile Excellent choice!

KitXi · 04/05/2018 21:13

I like it. River Song is badass.

Cosmoa · 04/05/2018 21:14

It's definitely not just a boys name!

Anyway I know a guy named Karol and it suits him and it's quite masculine to me now.

Basically I'm saying who cares anyway!
