Just that really...

I quite like it but would be put off using it because of Dil and Dilly as potential short versions. Having said that, none of the Dylan’s I know are called anything but their full name!

PinkAvocado · 07/04/2018 19:27

Dylans not Dylan’s!

Wishfulmakeupping · 07/04/2018 19:29

Don’t like it for a boy but I do know a girl Dylan and it’s a cool girls name. Ditto Sydney, Georgie

IggyAce · 07/04/2018 19:32

Don't like it, I know two and both of them were classed as the naughty boys in group/class.

Heratnumber7 · 07/04/2018 19:39

The correct pronunciation is Dull- an.
So if you say it properly, Dill shouldn't be an obvious nn.
I love the name Dylan.

CPtart · 07/04/2018 20:34

Don't like it, again for the naughty boy connotations.

ReversingSnail · 07/04/2018 20:38

I like it. Magic Roundabout Dylan was cool Easter Grin

Knitjob · 07/04/2018 20:43

My nephew is Dylan and I have never heard him called Dil or Dilly. He often calls himself Dilbo. I have no idea why, no-one else ever does.
It's definitely pronounced Dil-an in our family, I've never heard anyone say Dull-an.
And he is not naughty, he's one of the quietest kids I know.

sproutsandparsnips · 07/04/2018 21:06

Yes pronounced 'dull - an' and when pronounced thus I really like it (it's Welsh). There maybe a different spelling pronounced 'dill-an'?

chezmk1988 · 07/04/2018 22:16

I know an annoying one. I do like it for a little boy but can't imagine a middle aged dylan

Jobbieshitkakaboudin · 07/04/2018 22:19

My eldest DC bestie is called Dylan. All round excellent kid. Naughty enough, but respectful when it counts. Good name, good kid Wink

BestIsWest · 07/04/2018 22:23

I know several middle aged Dylans. I do live in Wales though (and they are Dull-and not Dill-ans)

Cosmicbird · 07/04/2018 22:27

Great name :) I have one, named specifically after the welsh poet. I’m also a teacher and have only ever known absolutely lovely Dylans!

RavenWings · 07/04/2018 22:29

Great name for a boy, dislike it on a girl.

squoosh · 07/04/2018 22:31

I like the name but prefer it pronounced the 'incorrect' way.

Strokethefurrywall · 07/04/2018 22:42

Was #1 on our girls list for DS1 - love it for a girl.

BrutusMcDogface · 07/04/2018 22:44

I like it! It's not a naughty boy name in my (teaching) experience!

squoosh · 07/04/2018 22:48

Naughty shmaughty. Only the Celtic nations have naughty boy names. Your Kyles, Conors, and Dylans.

Buntysoven · 07/04/2018 22:48

Like it for a boy really dislike it for a girl.

LadyPenelope68 · 07/04/2018 22:50

I don’t like it but only because in the last 12 years, I’ve taught 5 boys called Dylan and they’ve all been little horrors. Sorry!

YerAuntFanny · 07/04/2018 22:50

I like it, not uncommon but not over used either. I know 6 between 8 and 40's.

Only ever seen it spelt Dylan and pronounced "Dill-An".

There are no such things as "naughty" names. Only shit parents and/or overly judgemental teachers.

Gwenhwyfar · 07/04/2018 22:54

"Only ever seen it spelt Dylan and pronounced "Dill-An".

There's also Dillon, which covers the way you incorrectly pronounce it.

starkid · 07/04/2018 22:55

I like it :)

sleepylittlebunnies · 07/04/2018 23:02

I know a couple of middle aged Dylans pronounced Dillan although we are close to Wales. I like the name, both nice sensible blokes too.

ChilliMum · 07/04/2018 23:03

I absolutely love it, infact it was going to be ds name but everywhere we went during my pregnancy there were naughty Dylans with extremely loud mums yelling 'Dylan stop that now' 'Dylan come here now' etc.. in thé end I just couldn't do it.

Ironically ds should have been a Dylan as where ever we go he is the one misbehaving and I am the extremely load mum yelling '[ds name] come back now' '[ds name] stop doing that' Blush
