"Normal" but uncommon boys names

DC2 due end of July!

I feel like I've been through hundreds thousands of baby names and DP vetos every single one.

My first DC has a beautiful name, old fashioned but very much so a "normal" name in that there is no doubt as to how to spell or pronounce it. IDK if revealing her name would help name new DS?

The ONLY name we both sort of like is Arthur.

I like Rufus, Rupert, Alfred, Oscar (even though it seems to be becoming common), those sort of style names.

Please help us! I've made a thread before I think and had loads of lovely suggestions but guess what.... they all got veto'd!

Bear in mind my DP takes months to choose which new shirt to buy let alone name a child!

Arthur is great but it is on the rise.

How about Peter? Stephen? Patrick? Sebastian?

Both my son’s names have been mentioned and both are now extremely popular.

I’ve noticed the trend for American names lately, I know a Cooper and a Marshall. I’m sure they won’t have lots of similar names friends at school. Otherwise I would steer away from Ethan, Noah, Aiden, Arthur, Oscar, Oliver, Elliot. All of those supposedly different boys names and basically the Daniels and Stephens of the future.

If I was having another baby and it was a boy I’d go for Leo ❤️

Winchester13 · 27/03/2018 13:16

Leo’s a good name :)

I have a daughter Scarlett and I think if I had a boy he would be called Gabriel.

I have no patience for partners who veto all your suggestions and don’t come up with any of their own.

Why should we all come up with loads of suggestions only for him to veto them?

Tell him to come up with his own list. If he can’t be arsed, he has to choose three names from your list. That becomes the shortlist.

I had this exact conversation with my partner. I was annoyed with him, I spend ages thinking up great names and he’s like, ‘nah’. I got so annoyed he said I could have what I wanted. Result.

What about Thomas or James. Or Robert

sonlypuppyfat · 27/03/2018 15:19

I went to school with an Arthur, this was in the days of Darren and Gary. I think it's an ugly name

MsJuniper · 27/03/2018 16:44

I always loved Oscar but didn't use it as it had become so popular - we've only met a couple in 5 years so I kind of wish I'd just gone for it.

Other options we considered: Kester, Douglas, Lawrence, Felix, Leonard.
