A sister for Eleri?

We are expecting dd2, and dd1 is called Eleri (it's a Welsh name).

Does anyone have any suggestions of what might go? I had a boys name picked out but I can't find a girls name I like, and we now know it's a girl so need to get my thinking cap on!

I think ideally we would like another Welsh name.

Eleri is lovely. Never heard that name before. I don’t know many welsh names but I do love Seren.

Ah, I was coming on to say Arianwen, but if you're not keen on Anwen then probably not!

Seren or Cerys or Carys

Imhookedoncrochet · 12/03/2018 12:09

I love Eira but I'm not too sure I'm pronocining it right.

I quite like Dilys!

I also love Seren but it seems to be a very popular name.

Thank you for all the suggestions everyone!

Welsh girls names from my DC's classes:

Cadi
Mali
Ffion
Gwen
Gwenllian
Celyn (rhymes with Helen and the C is a C for cat sound)
Mari
Mared
Efa
Beca
Rhian
Betsi

Some are Welsh spellings of English names but still sound nice.

NoodlesLivesHere · 12/03/2018 12:23

BTW you pronounce Eira as Eye-Ra (at least in South Wales. The North might have a different inflection) and it means snow

MammieBear · 12/03/2018 12:32

Mali was what came to my mind straight away or how about cerys?

Midge75 · 12/03/2018 12:40

It can also be pronounced 'ay-ra' (ay as in may). Also South Wales. I grew up saying Ay-ra, but my mum would go with Eye-ra.

@Noodles Haha - you don't want to mess with scary Welsh ladies!

Eira is growing on me now.

If we decided on Eirianwen, do you think it would be shortened to Eira or Anwen? Or something else?
