So having decided on Tasmin, our dd hugged my tummy today and said "My Darla". Meant darling of course but after a quick Google I found it's a real old English name. DH and I jokingly said dd's named her sister but it's really grown on both of us and it's a cute story to tell her when she's older. We don't discuss names with others IRL so what do you think of Darla? DD is Nancy and I really like the way they sound together...I think!

Brilliant, you’ve deffinately got yourself a Darla, Nancy knows best

VileyRose · 28/02/2018 09:10

I thought of finding nemo.

My aunty is called diana but my nan's accent makes it sound like Darna

VileyRose · 28/02/2018 09:11

Sorry baby brain lol just realised Darla not Darna

Blueberryblueberry · 28/02/2018 09:13

Oh that's lovely! Such a great story for the both and Darla sounds lovely with Nancy

GimbleInTheWabe · 28/02/2018 09:16

Love it OP! Nancy and Darla sound so right together.

butterfly56 · 28/02/2018 09:19

Lovely name Darla and goes really well with Nancy.
There is a Darla in my family tree going back 5 generations! Smile

Dcdfcdfc · 28/02/2018 09:25

Darla is ok. Tasmin is also ok. I personally don't love them but I really like the fact they are unusual but not in a wierd way.

To me Darla sounds 1970's American.

The sister naming the baby story is cute but try not to let it influence your name choice. It's a cute story but likely to get old quick 😂😂.

lovetheway · 28/02/2018 09:26

Love it! It's different without being silly - and suitable for every age. So yes, genius.

Shadow666 · 28/02/2018 09:28

I like Darla.

I seriously don't remember a Darla in Despicable Me, or a fish killer. Hmm

bigfatbuddha · 28/02/2018 09:29

I love it! It suits a girl but also a grown woman. It's easy to say and to spell. Foreigners can pronouce it correctly too. It's a great name.

Shadow666 · 28/02/2018 09:31

Ah, just re-read. It was Nemo.

DeputyBrennan · 28/02/2018 10:03

I prefer Darla to Tasmin, which just sounds a little bit awkward to me (I prefer Tamsin to both of them, though, which I understand is not helpful to you!)

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 28/02/2018 10:17

How lovely !
Darla is much nicer than Tasmin.

catchyjem · 28/02/2018 10:22

I think Darla is lovely

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 28/02/2018 10:29

Aww clever Nancy. Smile

mawbroon · 28/02/2018 10:29

I remember that comic story, BalloonSlayer!

It was the first thing I thought of when I saw the name Darla Grin

Troika · 28/02/2018 10:32

Dd1 named ds in a similar way. She was calling my bump something the whole way through. He was always going to be called something else but when he was born I looked at him and he could only be called by the name dd had been using.

Redpramlady · 28/02/2018 11:37

Aw I love it! Goes well with Nancy too

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 28/02/2018 11:47

Can understand the sentiment behind you wanting to choose it but I'm not keen sorry. It reminds me of the girl out of finding nemo and to my ears sounds a bit made up American.

DreamingOfAHotBeach · 28/02/2018 13:49

I love it! Go for it. I much prefer Darla to Tasmin.

MissMoodyMoo · 28/02/2018 13:57

Aww well done nancy! Looks like you've got your self a wee baby Darla on the way! It's super cute and a beautiful story! ❤

MissMoodyMoo · 28/02/2018 13:58

Also Tamsin reminds me of a stripper or the Tasmanian devil 😂

MrsElvis · 28/02/2018 14:23

I prefer it and think people would spell and understand it more than Tasmin. Love the story

RockafellerSkank · 28/02/2018 14:25

Daisy, choc meant name threads in general, not this one.

Loyly · 28/02/2018 14:30

Darla and Alfalfa, one of the greatest love stories in cinematic history.

Yes to this! Grin

I love the name and your reason for it.
