None at school, none now. There are a few actresses with my first name - I always like to see it on the credits of a film/TV programme.

TheWoollybacksWife · 17/02/2018 17:34

I have a name that was very popular in the decade I was born.

I was the only one of this name in my small primary school.

I was one of three in my year at seniors and two of my best friends had a sister with the same name as me.

I have never worked with someone with the same name as me but I have one good friend and a couple of friends of friends with the same name.

Interestingly (to me, at least) I share my first name with two of my first cousins - one maternal and one paternal. I never thought of this as an issue until I read some of the baby name threads on here.

When you say "know." Do you mean who I'm in contact with or who I just know or know of. If it's the first...0
If it's the latter about 15.
There were at least 2 in each class.
My names Clare.

holasoydora · 17/02/2018 17:37

I knew nobody else with my name at school - primary and secondary. The odd one I would meet on holiday. It seems to have been in the top three or so since the 90s so now they are always around, though none among my middle aged friends.

Mooey89 · 17/02/2018 17:39

I met one other person with my first name when I was around 4, everyone was shocked that there were two of us as it’s such an unusual name. Never met or even heard of anyone else with the same name in this country anyway since!

GrouchyKiwi · 17/02/2018 17:39

3 in my school year (thought not with my spelling).
6 more off the top of my head that I went to school with, but in different years, and only 1 with my spelling.
5 more now I'm on the other side of the world, 2 with my spelling.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 17/02/2018 17:40

None. Although my family are Irish, my great grandmother (never met her, she died in the nineteenth century!) was Romanian (Moldovan region as was then). My mother, and then I, were given a very Russian/Romanian name. Not that common in Russia and less so in Romania. Never met one in rl though there is one journalist and one singer with the same name.

ShowOfHands · 17/02/2018 17:40

Never met one. Never even heard it used for a person in my earshot.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 17/02/2018 17:41

No one, but I've met the occasional one.

MrsHathaway · 17/02/2018 17:59

yy Thomas Hardy (wonder if it's the same one?)

I have only met about five (of whom two are currently under eighteen). In all my life it's never been out of the top 50 in England and Wales, and is usually top 20.

Where on earth are they all?!

CoffeeChocolateWine · 17/02/2018 21:42

I don't have an uncommon name but now that you ask the question I realise that I currently know no one else with my name. I have known a few during my life but no one that I'm in touch with at the moment!

borntobequiet · 17/02/2018 21:46

Two other girls in my class at school with the same name as me (60s).
Only met one other one since. Oh, and a random French lady.

stressedoutfred · 17/02/2018 21:51

Loads, thanks to my parents giving me the top girls name for the year! I went to school and have worked with a lot of girls with the same name Grin

Leiaorganashair · 17/02/2018 21:58

None with my given name in the U.K. About a billion in the country I was born in!

Mrsknackered · 17/02/2018 21:59

Personally, just one.

I've heard of a few really young ones though, it's had quite the surge in popularity in the last 5 years.

Anxiouschild · 17/02/2018 21:59

3, although one of those is the person I was named after. The other two are a similar age to me (mid thirties).

lorisparkle · 17/02/2018 22:00

I have a fairly uncommon first name, have met a handful over my life but I have a very common surname. This means there is someone with my first and surname living in the same village. I have had a few unusual issues with hairdressers surprised to see me and with post going to her house. She also has a personalised number plate which I quite fancy!!

franke · 17/02/2018 22:03

No one personally. One girl in my primary school in the 70s. According to mn my name is akin to Brenda/Sandra Confused

positivepineapple · 17/02/2018 22:05

None, a few with amended spelling of one of the many abbreviations. I hated my unique name when I was young, now I like that it's unusual, although very few manage to pronounce it correctly.

nancy75 · 17/02/2018 22:08

I met 1 a few years ago but don’t know any others, my name really is Nancy and in the last few years I have heard a couple of small children called it

Meandmy4 · 17/02/2018 22:09

None !

Lucked · 17/02/2018 22:10

I have an unusual name, I have had one patient once with the same name but different spellings (she spelled it correctly) and there was a celebrity who had there 15 mins 20 years ago with the same spelling as me but I have never met them.

demirose87 · 17/02/2018 22:10

None. Never worked with one or went to school with one and I don't have a very unusual name.

megletthesecond · 17/02/2018 22:10

Too many. I work with another three.
It's still fairly popular for little girls.

This for me too, though my parents chose an unusual spelling.
