Could I please ask your opinions on the name Peter? It's a family name that would be nice to use and is growing on me, but I think it is a little unusual in the sense that it's not very common anymore.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ASDismynormality · 03/02/2018 10:55

I love it!

blatblatblat · 03/02/2018 10:56

Great name.

FairfaxAikman · 03/02/2018 10:57

I love it. Not unknown, will never need to spell it out but not so common there will be 10 in every class.

A classic that is due a comeback.

Annabelle4 · 03/02/2018 10:58

I love it.

glitterballbag · 03/02/2018 11:04

I love it!
It's my sons middle name and my Granddads name absolutely lovely

Theworldisfullofidiots · 03/02/2018 11:06

Love it, would of called my ds it but both my dad and dh are called it.
It's an unusual name nowadays.

Orangepear · 03/02/2018 11:06

Love it!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 03/02/2018 11:14

Really sweet.

onlyconnect · 03/02/2018 11:16

I love it too. Deserves a come-back.

ReggaetonLente · 03/02/2018 11:17

One of my favourites.

IggyAce · 03/02/2018 11:18

It's a fine name, not too common but is probably due a come back. I know 2 one us mid 20's and the other is 6.

PanannyPanoo · 03/02/2018 11:20

Brilliant name. I don't know anyone under 35 called Peter, know one 4 year old David.
Both lovely classic names. Easy to spell, no explanations necessary, yet not common.
Love the Peter Pan link too.

MistyMeadow · 03/02/2018 11:22

Yep lovely!

HonkyWonkWoman · 03/02/2018 11:23

Nooooooo! Awful, awful, awful.

IVflytrap · 03/02/2018 11:25

It's an underused classic. I really like it.

myidentitymycrisis · 03/02/2018 11:25

love it. its my ds middle name so i am biased

ChocolateCrunch · 03/02/2018 11:44

Classic name. I only know one little boy called it, aged 7.

CandyYumYum · 03/02/2018 11:46

My friend's baby is called Peter. It wouldn't rock my world as far as names go but there's nothing wrong with it either.

Marmite27 · 03/02/2018 11:49

If DC2 was a boy, he’d have been Peter.

It was my baby dolls name when I was a child, my favourite Narnia character and a dear family friend who has recently passed aways name.

I’ve always loved it.

HuskyMcClusky · 03/02/2018 11:49

No.

Andrew got equally gushing reviews on here the other day. No thanks. Boring.

lettuceWrap · 03/02/2018 11:52

I have a young DC Peter in P2 and at his school of around 250 kids there are at least three other Peters all younger than my DC. I think the name is on the cusp of a revival...

greendale17 · 03/02/2018 11:53

No- it is boring and is a wet fish of a name. Always I hate the shortening to Pete

BoldKitties · 03/02/2018 12:02

Absolutely love it. I'm probably biased because it was my amazing Grandfather's name, and he was truly the best man I have ever known. If I ever have a son he will be called Peter for sure.

All that aside, I really think it's a lovely, classic name that isn't overused these days.

FairfaxAikman · 03/02/2018 12:17

@HuskyMcClusky that would have been my thread.

Seems you can't win on MN - names are either too Yooneek or too "boring".

All I will say is no one ever thanks their parents for a made up name.

(And by the way we are going with Andrew, along with some similarly dull middle names)

Fozzleyplum · 03/02/2018 12:18

I 've got a 16 year old Peter. It's a great name IMO, and infinitely preferable to some of the trendy, try-hard names that are popular at the moment Wink.
