Opinions/ middle names for Rogue

Robyn578 · 28/01/2018 19:53

I have been looking for names for a little while. I want something unusual thats not going to crop up everywhere and Rogue is the only name ive really fallen in love with! I would use it for either a boy or a girl. Middle name for a boy would be John after a family member, but im worried Rogue John sounds a bit like a dodgy curry! Middle names for a girl would either be Evangeline, joan or Elizabeth. Does anyone have any opinions/suggestions/alternatives? (No Rogans or logans please!)

Brogue.

I am aware that i asked for opinions. I am not being sensitive about that. I absolutely understand that some people may hate it, just as i hate certain names. That is not the issue im having. What im saying is that there is absolutely no need for people to insult me as a parent, purely because they disagree with something i like (which i have since reconsidered!)

I wont insult you as a parent OP but I have laughed out loud at this thread.

Just as every person that meets a child named Rogue will (behind your back).

Glad you appear to have reconsidered.

mustlovedogs · 28/01/2018 23:27

I just googled it and a nickname came up as 'Goguey'

@OP "If you have nothing nice to say dont say it at all.
In this vein I would make sure I didn't choose a name that would lead to my child being bullied. Because being bullied really isn't nice. As a parent you want to minimise the chances for being bullied, not increase them.

One of my closest friends chose 'beautiful' 'unique' names for her kids, really lovely ones. Guess what? As teenagers they really hate them. They hate having to spell them Every Single Time. Life is embarrassing enough for kids - don't make it worse by forcing your idea of 'coolness' on them. And yes, I thought my friend's choices were odd at the start but it was too late as she'd already had the babies.

First rule of naming babies: Don't Be Weird.

Meanings are as important as the sound of a name. How about Rowan? Rowan is the Mountain Ash tree and it offers protection against evil. It's a name that could be used for a girl or boy. If you like names beginning with R how about Roger or Reggie? Can't think of any girls' names beginning with R except Reine (queen in French).

KalaLaka · 28/01/2018 23:41

Great name for a spaniel.

I taught a 10 year old Rogue. He was absolutely lovely and yes a little bit of a rogue.

JustHereForThePooStories · 28/01/2018 23:48

How about Radge?

DonkeyOil · 29/01/2018 00:07

Of course this is a 'light the blue touch paper' thread Grin

But just in case it isn't, how about Rebel, Fluke, Bandana or Stevedore? All much more sensible Wink

I can totally understand falling in love with a name, but you need to know when to attach it to your alsatian, rather than your child!

Beansonapost · 29/01/2018 00:25

Rogue Juan...

sumsumsum · 29/01/2018 00:28

How are you all pronouncing it? R-ooooo-gue or R-oh-gue? Critical question. not

PenguinsandPandas · 29/01/2018 00:57

I was going for a French pronunciation with rolling those Rs 3sum

Rogue Le Rouge and the female version
Roxie Le Rouge though this one isn't unique, she's a burlesque dance show producer in Paris no less.

What about Roguie Wan Kenobi?

DunkandEgg · 29/01/2018 01:55

Roguie Wan.... Grin Sorry OP, it can't be nice to be the butt of jokes here, so please, please don't make your child the butt of these jokes either.

Rogue runner! Arf!

Topseyt · 29/01/2018 02:17

I pass no judgement on your parenting skills.

I do pass judgement on the name Rogue. It is utterly ridiculous. I would think poor kid.

I am glad you are reconsidering now. Just remember that you are naming your child, not the family pet.

Littlechocola · 29/01/2018 02:46

Nothing to do with your parenting skills but maybe wait to meet him/her and then decide?

OtterInDisgrace · 29/01/2018 02:52

Rogue Maverick Iceman?

trulybadlydeeply · 29/01/2018 03:04

Of you've now been dissuaded from Rogue, how about, but still want a not a name type name, how about:

Cameo
Magenta
Serenity
Cobalt
Avalon

BattleCuntGalactica · 29/01/2018 03:09

Waynetta.
