Trying to narrow down names. Honest opinions please. We don't know if we're having a DS or DD.

Girls

Clara
Pearl
Rosa
Marianne
Elizabeth (DH hates this one for some reason)

Boys

Gene (DH wants Eugene, but I've told him it's not happening)
Rudy (I think this would look daft as a stand alone name on birth certificate though, and I'm not using Rudolph!)
Emett
Alexander
Lorcan (I love this, but DH says it sounds like locustGrin)

Thoughts appreciated pleaseSmile

Lovely girl choices! You may as well scratch Elizabeth if your DH hates it.

Rosa Marianne or Clara Marianne would work well as combinations.

LarkDescending · 26/01/2018 13:12

Alexander is by far my favourite from your boy choices.

Might Rory appeal?

Ithinkifoundit · 26/01/2018 13:13

Great minds think alike Lark DH thinks the names don't go as first and middle names though. I think DH needs help or possibly his eyes testingGrin

Clara or Alexander

Ithinkifoundit · 26/01/2018 13:15

Alexander is the middle name all the men on DM side are given. I do think it's a lovely name, but I don't like Alex (which it will

inevitably get shortened too.

I'm afraid I don't like Rory. I don't like most boys names though tbhSad

Clara
Alexander

Ithinkifoundit · 26/01/2018 13:21

I like boys names beginning with E (think Eli, Edward etc) any suggestions along those lines much appreciated.

I love Edward (shortened to Teddy) My horse is called Teddy though!

Andrew?
I'm just trying to think of names similar(ish) to Alexander

Annabelle4 · 26/01/2018 13:22

Elliott

Ithinkifoundit · 26/01/2018 13:25

Andrew? Now there's a name you don't hear often these days. There were sooo many Andrews when I was at school (I'm well old thoughGrin)

I do like Elliot. DH doesn't like it though. Then again he likes the name Enoch, so perhaps his opinion shouldn't count?

Have you discounted Elijah?

Reuben?

Myddognearlyatethedeliveryman · 26/01/2018 13:29

Zander instead of Alex for nn?
Love Reuben!.
And Marianna nn Anna

maybebabybee · 26/01/2018 13:29

I don't like any of your girls names and only Rudy and Alexander out of your boys names (and I would only put Alex on the birth certificate).

I haven't got a DD but if I did my favourite girls' names are Phoebe, Sephy, Iola (not Lola - Iola with an i) Georgie, Winnie. So I suspect we have very different taste Grin

How about Martha?

Ithinkifoundit · 26/01/2018 13:30

I do like Reuben. Not sure if it's a bit posh though? We live in a fairly grotty part of London.

Elijah is niceSmile

Only like Rosa & Alexander. They are both lovely names

Ithinkifoundit · 26/01/2018 13:35

I think we do have very different girls names tastes maybebabybee I do quite like Martha thoughGrin

I'm glad you like Rudy though. My problem is that I don't like shortened versions of names going on birth certificates. It's making it so much harder!

Zander makes me think of Zander from Buddy the Vampire Slayer unfortunately and he was my least favourite character (told you I was oldGrin)

Buffy even...

Lavenderdays · 26/01/2018 13:38

Marianne/Marianna
and
Alexander from your list

Ithinkifoundit · 26/01/2018 13:46

Lots of votes for Alexander. I don't like the shortened versions though.

I'm going to have to pray it's a girlGrin

We are struggling with girls names (currently expecting dd3) and have Elizabeth on our list but in our house it is the other way round - dh likes this name and whilst I don't exactly dislike it is not standing out to me either - hoping it will grow on me shortly as there are lots of nickname potentials with this name (I do quite like Eliza).

LarkDescending · 26/01/2018 13:51

Alexander makes a great middle name and then you don’t have to worry about it being shortened.

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 26/01/2018 13:52

Clara
Lorcan or Alexander

DontsendTobySendGordon · 26/01/2018 13:52

I like all your girl names. Especially Rosa and Marianne.
I don't 100% love any of your boy names but then I had zero boy names on my list either time. I found them really hard.
Actually I do like Gene but it sounding like Jean puts me off.

maybebabybee · 26/01/2018 13:53

I live in a very grotty bit of SE London op and know a few Reubens.
