Hi, I've posted on here quite abit lately so sorry inadvance! I'm so indecisive!

So I've fallen in love with the name Logan for a girl😍😍 but I'm thinking maybe it would be best to have it double-barralled so it's clearly she's a girl!

Anyone got any ideas of double barrel for Logan?

TIA xx

I don’t think I’ve ever met a Logan but I would assume it’s a boys name. What would the nn be?

duckponds · 20/01/2018 10:03

I think Logan can be a girls name, but probably more so in America? Or at least it sounds quite American to me, and harsh sounding. I don’t think it works as a double barrelled name at all, sorry.

There is nothing wrong with the name Logan
There is nothing wrong with living on a council estate either !!

What have you called your children that makes you such an expert !!

donquixotedelamancha · 20/01/2018 10:38

Perhaps those suggesting they will get bullied should teach their children not to bully others?!

I didn't say she'd get bullied by my kids. I agree in principle that names 'shouldn't have a penis' but the name you give can have a profound effect and I wouldn't want my child to have to be the one fighting the stereotypes.

I think the fact that you feel like you need to add another name to Logan indicates you are a bit more ambivalent then you are admitting to. If you like Logan go with that - don't faff about with it.

I like the name because it makes me think of Hugh Jackman and that's never a bad image in my book.

squoosh · 20/01/2018 10:52

No reason it can't be a girl's name......but she will get bullied.

Rubbish.

Kids are called all kinds of weird and wonderful names these days that I can't see the name Logan on a girl so much as raising an eyebrow among her peers.

SpikeGilesSandwich · 20/01/2018 11:06

How about Loganne? Grin

SpikeGilesSandwich · 20/01/2018 11:08

Seriously though, Logan is fine if you like it, I doubt it would lead to bullying if you look at all the different names these days, kids just accept them.

pipilangstrumpf · 20/01/2018 11:08

Kids are pretty accepting of most names! I've rarely heard of kids getting teased for their names. If at all, it's names like Will becoming Willy or Ellie Smellie. But Logan is perfectly normal for either gender imo.

sunshinestorm · 20/01/2018 11:13

Logan is nice, I have always thought of it as unisex even if it is more commonly used on boys.

I just think with Mumsnet name opinions it's basically always 'name that sounds middle-class'= 99% of posters complimenting it, 'name that isn't middle-class'= a lot of rude snobby comments!

EleanorXx · 20/01/2018 11:18

No reason it can't be a girl's name......but she will get bullied.
Bullshit.

Logan is a very modern cool sounding name, I like it, but wouldn’t double barrel it

Whatatado · 20/01/2018 11:25

I think it sounds very masculine.

thepatchworkcat · 20/01/2018 11:35

Gosh some people on here are so rude and snobby about names! Shock

HuskyMcClusky · 20/01/2018 11:38

What’s rude and snobby? The OP asked the question, we answered.

maximu · 20/01/2018 11:41

I would double barrell it but choose a MC name to go with Logan so as to confuse everybody.

Logan-Hermione
Logan-Matilda
Logan-Octavia

thepatchworkcat · 20/01/2018 11:41

Well, “it’s a bit council estate” for example.

HuskyMcClusky · 20/01/2018 11:51

Sorry, I missed that. Yes, that’s not great.

Biddlyboo · 20/01/2018 12:08

I think it’s a great name, all those saying it sounds or looks ugly are probably the kind that think ottillie isn’t weird.
She’ll grow into whatever name you give her op.

MammieBear · 20/01/2018 12:40

How about morgana?

Standardpubquizname · 20/01/2018 13:06

Although technically there is no reason why Logan can't be a girl's name. Although as others have said although it may be unique and quirky to be a girl called Logan she's likely to be in a class/school with plenty of boy Logans which makes it less quirky and unique and may mean she becomes girl-Logan or similar.

Adding another name makes it quite long unless you go for a one syllable name. If you go for a name like Logan-Harriet you end up with a 5 syllable name which may be a bit of a mouthfull for small children to say/spell.

I think if you're really set on Logan, drop the hyphen and just give her a more 'normal' middle name she can switch to if she wanted.

expatinscotland · 20/01/2018 13:08

Double-barrelling makes it even more ridiculous.

bluesu · 20/01/2018 13:14

I think it sounds quite cool, OP. But not double barrelled. I can't think of a name to barrel it with...

BewareOfDragons · 20/01/2018 13:17

No. And please don't double barrel her first name. They're all horrible.

BeyondThePage · 20/01/2018 13:23

Well, must live on an "estate" here - we have a female Logan (aged 4) next door, Morgan and Riley (6 year old twin sisters) 2 doors on from them....
