Baby due in 1 week. Can't agree on a name.

As simple as that really. Baby girl due in 1 week. DH and I can't agree on a name.

1 daughter already named Rowan.

After a million hours on nameberry and many vetos we have narrowed it down to a 1st and 2nd choice each.

Mine: Adeline (1st choice); Lyra (2nd choice)
His: Kaila (1st choice), Narcissa (2nd choice - don't get me started)

Any further suggestions?

I think Adeline is nicest by a mile. A beautiful name and Addie is a cute nickname.

Similarish in my mind ... Sadie? Seren? Eden? Eloise? Florence?

Yours are much nicer and go with DD1. Love Adeline.
I don't know how you negotiate though. Is he serious about Narcissa - and is he not listening to you?

Maybe you should discard all the names you disagree on and come at it with a fresh pair of eyes and find something that’s not on either of your current shortlists? And compromise, it’s okay to choose a baby name you both like rather than one you adore. It’ll become your babies name anyway and you won’t care whether it was the top of your list or not.

If I’d had a girl I would have had a Zara or an Alexa (before Amazon’s Alexa was a thing though!)

I dislike both of your second choices - sounds like Lycra and narcissist, so personally I would work with both first choices. Do you hate his first choice ( and vice Versa)

Adeline is nicest, but if I heard of siblings called Adeline and Rowan, I would assume Rowan was a boy. They're very different in style.

If you can’t agree on any of your shortlist then I would go back to the drawing board sorry. Sit together and go through some name websites and see if there is any you agree on. You might not get one you love but it’s important to get one you both at least like. I personally like the idea of another nature name to go with Rowan but not everyone likes themes.

I’d actually take a break from it. Your DD doesn’t need a name pre birth and you don’t have to name her as soon as she’s born. Don’t spend this last week (or so) disagreeing. Just be together and enjoy the last short while with ‘just’ Rowan.

I agree with Annie. Wait until baby is born and then decide on a name. I didn't have a name for days/weeks until the next door neighbour suggested one!

We’ve been in this position every time - and now are again (DC3 due in 3 weeks)! I second the advice to take a break from discussions - I did find seeing the baby helped.
For what it’s worth your shortlist is my favourite. Lyra is pretty. What about Felicity or Chairs?
In the meantime could you build your own compromise shortlist of names you could both live with? It’s hard not getting what you want but you only need one name and hopefully you can find one you agree on.
