Anyone seen or heard a name which has a ridiculous spelling? I was served in a shop today by a Georja.

Looked very wrong

I've seen Fynlie and Kasidi recently, but was on a site mainly used by Americans.

MyWhatICallNameChange · 10/12/2017 14:23

I know of Kci round here. I wonder if it's the same one as cakeymccakington or If there is more than one?

cakeymccakington · 10/12/2017 14:31

@MyWhatICallNameChange are you in the south east?

Oblomov17 · 10/12/2017 14:37

I don't like most of them. I don't 'get' why parents do it. It just causes the person to spell their name for their whole life.
I know a Leica.

lizzieoak · 10/12/2017 14:43

At work I’ve seen:
Jaysun
Arunn
Lundyn (ffs)

LynetteScavo · 10/12/2017 14:46

I know a Jorja and a C'Jai (C.J.)

Jorja I get. C'Jai I struggle with.

I know so many Casper/Caspar/ Kacpers I'm now just confused.

FATEdestiny · 10/12/2017 15:00

I personally know

KC (both capital letters)
Feebee
Fynnley
Lukus
Dene

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 10/12/2017 15:04

What's wrong with Debra.

ChocolateCakeandTeaPlease · 10/12/2017 15:05

The only one that really gets me is Zooey as in Zooey Deschanel the actress. By the laws of English surely that's zoo - ey? Surely?

EvilTwins · 10/12/2017 15:13

Also used to teach a CJ (not short for anything, not initials - full name) and a Le (Lee) Le hated it though. Added an extra "e"", though was Le on official records.

SingleSoda · 10/12/2017 15:13

Leia pronounced Leah.

The father was a huge star wars fan and the mother didn't want a child pronounced Leia so they compromised Hmm

lizzieoak · 10/12/2017 15:15

How do they pronounce Dene? I’m Canadian & Dene is the name of a people (sub-Arctic) & it’s pronounced Den-aye.

Myneighboursnorlax · 10/12/2017 15:19

The worst I’ve seen is Poppeigh.

XmasFairy86 · 10/12/2017 15:21

Phebie. Huh?!

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 10/12/2017 15:27

I know someone who has named their child Niambh.

Mollie85 · 10/12/2017 15:29

Dene = deenee

FATEdestiny · 10/12/2017 15:48

The Dene I know is pronounced the same as Dean

mydogmymate · 10/12/2017 15:51

Niamh, spelt Neve. Just lazy Confused

spurtions · 10/12/2017 15:53

Jaxon just beyond terrible

Lostflipflop · 10/12/2017 15:57

Meghanne
Jayke
Maxx
Fynnleigh

lizzieoak · 10/12/2017 15:59

I’d assume Poppeigh was pronounced Popeye!

I can’t read Dene as anything but Den-aye, but that’s just me. It is a stupid ass way of spelling Dean though.

daisypond · 10/12/2017 16:03

Austen, Debra and Lillie are all OK spellings - have been around for a long time. I know an Austen and a Debra - both in their early 50s.

thequeenofsandwich · 10/12/2017 16:04

White middle class professional named Maffu..... pronounced Matthew. Before I met him I pictured an African Warrior , how wrong I was

Orangeseed · 10/12/2017 16:06

Kimber-leigh (Kimberly)

Emmer-leigh (Emily)

MyWhatICallNameChange · 10/12/2017 16:26

@cakeymccakington I am in the south east. It must be the same one surely. There can't be more Kci's out there.
