No, have never met one. I do like it though.

wren23091 · 17/11/2017 07:16

Being early 20’s, I’d assume the parent(s) were twilight fans, only place I’ve ever heard the name. That aside, it’s a nice name imo - could imagine it for a girl or boy

Partyfops · 17/11/2017 07:19

Emmett is what some parts of the country call unwanted tourists.

17caterpillars1mouse · 17/11/2017 07:20

Is twillight still a thing?

Like hyacinth bucket's neighbour?

inisfree · 17/11/2017 07:29

It's a reasonably well known name in Ireland.

ProfessorCat · 17/11/2017 07:33

Know a few, all Irish.

It's a lovely name although I can't think of it without thinking of the Lego Movie Grin

wobblywonderwoman · 17/11/2017 07:35

Love it. Know one (he's ten)

PoppyPopcorn · 17/11/2017 07:35

I know one, he's 12. Parents are Irish.

Jellybean85 · 17/11/2017 07:37

I worked in America for several years and knew a few there, never heard it in the uk so It may cross my mind that you were from the states? Lovely name though! I’m in my late twenties and didn’t think of twilight until it was pointed out. Most people probably won’t make the connection, or if they do just looo blank and explain he wasn’t named for the movie Grin

MarmiteAndPB · 17/11/2017 07:59

I really like it, but DH shot it down. Makes me think of back to the future first and foremost (Doc Brown - he gets called Emmett by his girlfriend a lot in the third one). The Lego Movie now that someone's mentioned it. Can't remember a Twilight character but I've forgotten most of Twilight by now!

Chasingsquirrels · 17/11/2017 08:01

I know of one, age 12.

ParadiseLaundry · 17/11/2017 08:04

I love the name and was considering the name for DS who is 2 but DH wasn't keen. We know a little Emmett too.

It was more BTTF which made me like it (and he was born in 2015, the BTTF year!) but the Twilight connection didn't bother me either as I'm a bit of a fan of that too Blush and there are so many great names in Twilight!

Poppyfields21 · 17/11/2017 08:06

Two things come to mind, either Emmett Till or the character in Legally Blonde. Neither would make a difference to how I felt about the name

Debby08 · 17/11/2017 08:21

Never met anyone with the name Emmett.

jaimelannistersgoldenhand · 17/11/2017 08:24

Emmett from The Lego Movie and Dr Emmett Brown from Back to the Future spring to mind.

JamesBlonde1 · 17/11/2017 08:30

I think of an American yokel living on a farm, uneducated.

bridgetreilly · 17/11/2017 08:36

Keeping Up Appearances. Utterly wet. Not a great association.

squoosh · 17/11/2017 08:37

Robert Emmet

SuperBeagle · 17/11/2017 09:14

Makes me think of Emmett Till, which is a very sad association.

Sarahh2014 · 17/11/2017 09:22

Sorry reminds me of character in Keeping up Appearances

FML2017 · 17/11/2017 10:44

It makes me think of Kermit the frog

BattleaxeGalactica · 17/11/2017 10:50

Doc Brown from Back To The Future.

EssentialHummus · 17/11/2017 10:53

I like it. Means “truth” in Hebrew if that does anything for you.

icantgetnosleep5 · 17/11/2017 11:01

I really quite like it :)
