Hello all

I am set on Fawn as a first name for my first baby girl, does anyone have any middle name suggestions?

I like everything natural and botanical but as Fawn is already a little unusual I don't want anything too unconventional for the middle name.

I also like retro and classic style names

The only combo I have right now is Fawn Ava

I really like this but has already been Eva's and Ava's around us last few years.

Also like

Fawn Adele - partner doesn't like
Fawn Bluebell - too hippy?
Fawn Honey - unsure
Fawn Evelyn - good
Fawn Adeline - too unusual
Fawn Lily-Rose - good
Fawn Florence
Fawn Felicity
Fawn Poppy
Fawn Opal
Fawn Tigerlilly
Fawn Delilah
Fawn Rosalie
Fawn Laurel - too masc?
Fawn Autumn - know a baby Autumn already

Keen to use a variation of lily if poss

I know a lot of the above don't flow well just giving examples of the style I like

Please help xx

i posted earlier and advised steering away from using it.. but then i thought of my own mumsnet baby name thread... i Loved the name Elton for my baby son i had last year, (it had personal connotations too) and everyone commented how hideous it was and laughed over it. So i didnt use it, one year on (after choosing a more normal name) i still look at him and think damnit i wish id called you Elton !!

:)

I went to school with a Fawn so to me it’s not odd at all. How many syllables has your surname? Unless it’s very long I’m inclined to agree with PPs that it merits a longer middle name such as Rosalind, Evangeline or Honeysuckle. I don’t think she’d thank you for a strange spelling like Faun(e) personally.

happyfrown · 07/11/2017 21:56

I love it don't let people put you off.

beats john smith or jenny jones any day! love to be different

ive shut up shop for kids now but if I did mine would be river or valley and wouldn't give two hoots if people said it sounds like fanny etc thats down to the persons stupidity or they need the ears checked Wink

Evelyn Fawn is so much better.

SoupDragon · 07/11/2017 22:52

Evelyn Fawn McH... going by Fawn

I've found going by my middle name to be inconvenient at times. Just give her the name you want to use as the first name.

hippyhippyshake · 07/11/2017 23:09

I didn’t like it when I first read the op but now I do. Prefer Faune as the spelling and agree a longer middle name is best. Faune Rosanna or Faune Isabella maybe.

wooster16 · 08/11/2017 00:16

Faune is lovely

Buntysoven · 08/11/2017 00:33

I like the simplicity of Fawn...this one's going to be Fern so not a million miles away. Fawn Juliet is really pretty

noidontdothat · 08/11/2017 00:43

Fawn Primrose love it

Viviennemary · 08/11/2017 00:50

Fawn is a simply dreadful name. And I can't think of any middle name that will make it any better.

Ukfirsttimemum · 08/11/2017 08:06

Thanks for all these comments everyone, really helpful and interesting. Pleased to get such a broad response and variety of opinions. Will keep in mind that going by middle name can be a pain admin wise. A lot of my partners family have done this. Fawn Juliet is lovely. It's a short surname just two syllables so a long middle name is good. Another thing I like about Fawn Evelyn / Evelyn Fawn McH is that my initials are ELF so there is a subtle match to EveLyn Fawn. She willl have my partners last name and we are not married.

I like Faun and Faunia, once knew a lovely lady called Faunia who really liked her name.

I like Faun Josephine, Faun Juliet, and Faun Alexandra.

daisypond · 08/11/2017 11:36

I think Fawn is OK, actually. I'm not usually a fan of animal names, much less baby animal/anything too cutesy. And "to fawn" as a verb isn't very complimentary. But Fawn is similar to Fern or Dawn, and they're fine. I think you should avoid anything botanical/naturey for a middle name, and that would cut out quite a few of your suggestions - it would begin to sound a bit too Flower Fairy for my liking. But Lilian would do nicely instead of Lily. Or another old classic name such as Eleanor, Elizabeth, Isobel would do.

Hebenon · 08/11/2017 21:17

Based on this thread I'm leaning towards Evelyn Fawn McH... going by Fawn

I think that is absolutely lovely.

EllenFawn · 09/11/2025 11:56

My name is Ellen Fawn Snow and I love my name...Fawn is a beautiful middle name

YYYDlilah · 09/11/2025 12:06

Fauna Kate

user1492757084 · 09/11/2025 12:12

Fawn Angelica
Fawn Delphinium
Fawn Cosima
Fawn Johanna
Fawn Edwina

RuthW · 09/11/2025 12:48

Be careful. Some of the suggestions sound like colours on a paint chart.

personally I dislike Fawn as mush as I dislike Dawn.

Faune is slightly better.

It is a PITA. Don't do it, especially not for 'cute initials' or 'name flow' reasons.

Viviennemary · 09/11/2025 13:39

Memories.

Its a ridiculous name.

FawnDrench · 09/11/2025 18:06

The child will be about 8 now…

mathanxiety · 10/11/2025 00:03

Fawn Laurel, Fawn Adeline, and Fawn Evelyn are lovely. Fawn Bluebell is nice. Fawn Primrose would also be nice, imo.

Not keen on the rest at all, big thumbs down to Fawn Lily-Rose.

Fawn Olivia
Fawn Eloise
Fawn Isobel
Fawn Aurora
Fawn Arabella
Fawn Eleanor

Fawn Jasmine
Fawn Celestine
Fawn Juliet
Fawn Leonora

Peternell · 10/11/2025 05:09

The Fawn spelling is better, I think. The suggestions of Fawn Susannah and Fawn Lilian are great names. Like you OP I have positive connotations of Fawn - forresty and earthy.
